Not talkin bout us loyal fans this time.

Sounds like a trivial matter on which to ask, but does anyone know whether or not if the Independents will be referred to as Browncoats at any time during SERENITY? I've heard a few things will be 'missing' or vastly underplayed, while other things will play a larger role, so I was wondering if the matter of the Browncoats had been discussed here.

Really...I figured it was an easy question to answer. (bump)

AURaptor:

Go find one of KRAD's posts. He's (Keith R. A. DeCandido) finished authoring the novelization of the movie. You can 'message' him from FFFn or use his email link at the bottom of each of his posts. He'd probably be willing to answer so innocuous a question. If he's not willing, then at least you'll know that it's 'forbidden knowledge'.

Just do us a favor: Don't let us know what you find out. KRAD's a paid author. If he figures it's worth discussing hereabouts, he can start a thread his own se'f. If he's not allowed to say, then it's too close to core story points and we don't wanna know. If it's a gray area he'd rather not discuss in the open, all the other Browncoats can personally email him to find out. (That should make his day!)

If you do email him, and he says 'No, I can't discuss that', please let us know so he doesn't have to say it 20 -- or 2000 -- times...

Correspondently,

zoid

Thanks Zoid. I didn't really think it was such a potentially taboo subject, but I guess when it comes to movies and millions of $$$$'s, it's just standard operating proceedure to not let info out unless it's 'de-classified'.

...and I'm not saying it necessarily is classified. But, I'm thinking that if the subject of Browncoats comes up in the movie -- in other than a strictly off-the-cuff sort of way -- it'll have implications in the major plot points.

I don't know. KRAD does know. So do the actors and JW. Just because they've all kept mum on this subject, doesn't indicate it's hidden, top-secret classified material. Obversely, the lack of mention may mean it is in fact classified.

Email KRAD. He'll either say, "It's not a player in the movie," or "I can't divulge that information." I think he'll tell you the truth, either way.

...Or he'll ignore your email, realizing that even a non-answer is still an answer. Remember, just don't relay his answer to us here, unless it's the 'not a player' response (e.g., saving KRAD from having to respond to 2000 inquisitive emails). If others want to know, they can email him, too.

Diviningly,

zoid
