This is a project I'm starting up on the Scifi.com Firefly Forum. Skiffy hasn't had a Firefly Marathon in a while, and I think this is a good way to ask for one. Here's the post that I put up over there:

Here's an idea that I think just might get Sci/Fi's attention....

I noticed that there isn't a Firefly Marathon scheduled during the Month of March,
which is a big disappointment. The Schedule for April Should be up by the
First of March, right? Well, here's my idea:

1) If there isn't a FF Marathon scheduled for April, let's ALL e-mail
feedback@scifi.com on the First of March and ask that they schedule one for the
Month of May. If there isn't a Marathon scheduled in May, then we e-mail them
April 2nd (NOT on April Fool's day!) and ask for a Marathon in June, etc. Each
Month we'll let Skiffy know that we do more than post on this Board.

We Watch the programming, and Want Our Show Included!

2) If Sci/Fi Does schedule a Marathon in any given Month, we should all
send an e-mail thanking them on the Day of the Marathon.

As is usual with Projects of this type, we need Numbers. If y'all are willing to do
this, a LOT of us have to do it. There are 2 million people registered on the sci/fi
Forums, and if we could get just a fraction of those numbers, they Will notice!
But we need Thousands of e-mails, Folks, not Hundreds.

If you have friends on the other skiffy Forums who are Fans and/or Browncoats,
let them know and get them involved. I'll be happy to coordinate this by posting
reminders on this thread as the "Target Dates" approach. But I need to know now:

Do Ya Wanna???

Thank you both, very much!

This is really a very simple idea. Just check the Schedule Calendar at scifi.com on the first of each month. If they don't have Firefly Scheduled, e-mail feedback@scifi.com and ask that they schedule it. If they DO schedule it, thank sci/fi for doing so. Easy as Lyin'.

Since there is no Marathon scheduled for April, folks over at scifi.com have started e-mailing, asking that skiffy schedule a Marathon for May at the latest, or perhaps drop one of the "doubled-up" Marathons; programs that get airtime twice in the month (Like the Incredible Hulk).

That address again is feedback@scifi.com

We're kind of hoping to send a message to sci/fi this month, so if y'all could please e-mail feedback@scifi.com on March 1st and request a Firefly Marathon be shown in either April or May...

That would be a Shiny thing for you to do

Today's the day, folks! Please send an email to feedback@scifi.com today, and ask for a Firefly marathon in April or May

Over 200 people have read this post here. It would be nice to have at least that many e-mails from this site.

Thanx!

With a Special Edition of the BDM coming out this Summer (YAY! *renews dance of joy*), it becomes even more desirable for Skiffy to have a Firefly Marathon or two. If Universal should happen to *Gasp!* Advertise the ReRelease, A Marathon of our favorite BDHs would be a great place to run the commercials!

Sorry for my lateness getting onboard with this TD.

I have to admit too much 'Verse stuff to keep up with, LOL

This is a brilliant idea and one of the best consistent ways to keep SciFi aware of us and perhaps encourage them to show our show. Every time they have a marathon, we get newbies over here and on the other boards. That's what we need, new folks loving Firefly/Serenity.

This is what I just wrote to the Sci-Fi Channel feedback email addy that TD supplied us with.

To Whom It May Concern:

As a fan of scifi and particularly as a fan of the Sci-Fi Channel ( yours is the one channel I cannot live without ) I'd like to respectfully ask that you do a Firefly marathon again.

SciFi is where I was introduced to Firefly and subsequently Serenity, the movie. I would like others to see this marvelous show and enjoy it like I did. I think it would be a wonderful addition to your schedule of classic scifi shows that you have on in your daily marathons.

I'm a regular watcher of all of your fine shows and have grown to love many of your own shows such as The Dresden Files and Eureka. You have great programming taste!

Of course I'm a huge fan of BSG and also SG-1 and SG Atlantis. The addition of Morena Baccarin to your cast on SG-1 and the addition of Jewel Staite to your cast of SG Atlantis were very welcome additions to me.

Please keep up the awesome work with your programming and truly consider adding Firefly to your marathon round up again.

With the release of the Special Edition of Serenity this summer in July... it would be the perfect opportunity to advertise for it with some episodes of Firefly.

Respectfully yours,

Diane E. ( I actually gave them my real name, address and phone number )

I also just checked the April schedule and there isn't any mention of Firefly. How can the definitive channel for sci-fi not have Firefly on it? Seems absurd huh?

We've got to do something about this Browncoats... let's let them know we want to see more Firefly on the Sci-Fi Channel!

Hey I'm new to the fireflyfans.net only because I have a confession to make. I just watched the entire Firefly series for the first time. Yes, I know how can this be you are thinking, it defies the laws of the universe. Well, on the flip side I am pretty lucky to just now see and ENJOY it for the first time. I fell in love with it then came the last episode thinking it was going to be a season finally or something and that was it. I said to my self ok there must be a 5th disc that I didnt add to my que on Netflix. Nope. What the hell, what a drop the ball kick in the head type of thinking was this by fox. I am like a addicted to something inivisable that I can't get my fix no more. Is anyone listening is anybody out there this is a travisty. So I sat dumb founded and confused behind my computer looking for the 5th and ever elusive disc that I must have overlooked, because that could be the only logical explanation. Then, there it was, no not the 5th disc but A FREAKING MOVIE CALLED SERENITY!! I was doing a very bad version of the cabbage patch in my dining room. Yes, it is true I am a fan and have never seen the movie. So go ahead poke fun at me I don't care but I still have one up on all you fly heads. I have yet to see the Movie Serenity for the first time. What a lucky bastard i must be or what a retard I must be for posting all this nonsence on a thread that has nothing to do with this. So ill fix that

As for the email.

Welcome home, Jodust! We're glad you've joined us.
Everything that you've said and described.... well, we've been there and done that.
Being a Browncoat isn't easy. A certain bit of heartache and such to it.

But I hope that this place will prove to be a balm to you... I know it's helped me when I get really frustrated that there is no more. Plus there are shiny things to do to at least say we want more!

Since you've joined us and since you're obviously a Browncoat.. you need your browncoat. Sorry it's only virtual, but it's a sort of symbol of our togetherness and your entry to the ranks.

*hands Jodust a browncoat from the storeroom*

There.. you're set. Someone might see this and greet you in addition to me and also sometimes they give you virtual strawberries.

Make yourself to home.

Ok, what do you think of my briefly scribbled argument:
The Plea: I too would like to see another Firefly marathon, but in truth I believe It in your best interests and my own if NBC were to breathe new life into Firefly for any of their stations including Sci-Fi. Perhaps you could ask Universal Studios to advertise their new release of "Serenity" which comes out this July.

The Support: Anyone at all can see that WWE was a silly acquisition for a brief success, but the ratings are slipping and there is no real future in it. Instead of creating new mediocre television series the likes of Tripping the Rift and Andromeda or rehashing old episodes of Beast Master, you could invest in a much more powerful series that will guarantee a religious following at the least. Firefly.

* It has been quite a while since Fox canceled it so their price should have gone down some.
* You can guarantee a following that must be as strong as ECW's
* The opportunities for advertising are plentiful unlike the repetitive "hardcore scene" you are trying to peddle with ECW. You could even attempt to create a "guerrilla advertising" crew from your official site and fan sites. Cheap, easy, and potentially very effective with little to no losses.

There is more, but I'm sure you didn't want to read this far.

Also, I would like to know where to send my resume for an Internship in PR/Marketing. Neither the NBC nor your Sci-Fi site has an address.

I agree with you Gohan32. If there is more please advise, I read that far expecting more. If after 5 years and people are still begging in these numbers on fan sites it should be apparent to anybody paying attention. I just dont get it personally maybe we are all out of touch with the real world and just a bunch of independent Brown Coats who well like the show I guess. Maybe we are fighting a battle thats already over. However it is apparent that we dont care and keep pushing forward anyway. Eventually somebody with some disposable cash and a strong arm will knock a few heads around and put some common sence into one of the networks. Until then keep pushing those keys and clicking those mouses.
