Guess I'm guilty - I haven't bothered to watch since it came back. It really wasn't doing anything for me. Sorry.

Oh, I was just shooting the messenger because I was asked not to; I have no real stake in this.

Honestly I haven't been impressed by V at all. The show should just be call "Stall". That's all they're doing. They have a couple little mysteries to reveal, but really they aren't very interesting in the first place. The rest of the show is just about crawling towards answers.

That's not a good show IMO. They needed better characters, better dialog and a better plot. They've dug too deep a hole to recover from at this point. That Tyler kid is like finger nails on a chalk board. The pregnant lady seems extremely dense and how exactly did she find out she was pregnant at V facility and not have them figure out the baby was a hybrid?

Though I think the biggest glaring mistake is Anna (no offense to Morena). Her character is pure evil. No villain should be that evil without any known motivation. Villains are supposed to be heroes in their own mind. That doesn't seem possible at this point with Anna. Heck they keep showing her saying "the innocent shall suffer" on the commercials. Who says stuff like that?

I like the show. I've seen every episode. It's had moments of greatness, but has yet to reach its' full stride. It is getting better every week, however, and Morena is brilliant on the show. For that reason alone, or even the fact that it is a sci-fi show, it is disppointing not to see more Browncoat love for it. Even after 4 shows last year, and all the ones so far this year, they still have not revealed all the diabolical mystery and horror it seems is yet to come. I suggest getting on board now.

What moments did you think were great?

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree - I'm in the UK and don't have Murdochvision, and have only seen the pilot - which was OK but didn't really inspire me to watch the rest. As long as the bit where Morena finally eats the rat (if it gets made) shows up on YouTube, I'll be happy.

Lets summarize the problem: we all know the story and it was quite a good one, even if the ending was a bit cheesy*. The makers of new V seem to think that is an excuse to fast-forward over much of the set-up we had in the original - even the revelation that the Visitors are lizards in disguise is just chucked in as a bit of exposition. Meanwhile, the big point of departure from the original story is, er, the Visitors sent an advance "softening up" party and the fifth column (which was present in the original) had a hand in setting up the resistance.

With the Battlestar Galactica remake (the success of BSG2000 must have been a factor in making V2009) it was made very clear from the start that this was going to be much darker and grittier than the original, was going to go back to the basic premise of humans trying to survive after a genocide and not visit any casino planets run by the monster-of-the-week**. New V just feels like a re-tread of old V with better special effects and added Morena). I'd rather watch a re-run (and dream of a Blake's 7 remake with Morena as Servilan!)

(* Note: here in the UK the 1980s "V" and "V: The Final Battle" were originally aired as a single mini-series just called "V").
(** Might also be a UK perspective due to the way original BSG was released here).

Guilty 2.

I've tried, really tried getting into this, but I've found it hard. It just doesn't hold my interest unless Morena or Alan are involved in the episode. None of the other actors have stood out and the most exciting thing was when Morena "mated" with that drone lizard.

Dialogue, set-up, actors, script, pacing all are Meh! It's all paint by the numbers, point A to point B kind of storytelling. Actually, if there was storytelling it would have some teeth. I'd rather watch Firefly reruns. Sorry to say, because I would love for Morena to get some acting kudos for her work in V. At this point, Christina has that market cornered.

P.S. I really did try. Honest.

Looks like it'll be back for season 2! I didn't like the show early on either but it did develop into something entertaining. The season finale certainly did its job of wanting to make you see more.

Meanwhile, The Middle, Modern Family, Cougar Town, and Castle all got renewed, which works for me. I liked Eastwick, but that didn't get much of a run or a chance... I didn't *LIKE* like it, but it was an okay guilty pleasure.

SINGATE

I originally started watching Modern Family because of Ed O'neill but I must say every character is capable of getting big laughs. There really is not a weak one in the bunch which is something considering how many family members get airtime. Great to see that it is coming back.
