Nihao, fellow Browncoats. I'm a longtime listener, first time caller.

I used to reside in the California Bay Area, where I imagine Serenity will be playing the full six weeks (the normal run for movies in theaters in metropolitan areas), but I've been living out in the sticks for the last two years, and the nearest theater still playing our BDM is two hundred miles away. I was wondering how I could find out if it will in fact be playing through November 10 (the last day of its six weeks) at Century 16 in Mountain View (zip code 94087) - despite a two-and-a-half hour drive time (I know you agree with me when I say it's well worth it!). I just have to see it in the theaters again before it's gone. After all, the cinema experience just can't be topped by the digital format of DVD. If any of you can help me, I will be forever greatful.

If the theater accepts Fandango tickets, you could check www.fandango.com with that zip code you've got there.

EDITED TO ADD: Oh, and welcome to the site! Always glad to see new browncoats popping up. Please do stick around.

EVEN MORE EDITED TO ADD: Ah, hell I just did it myself. The Century 16 on Mountain View says it will still be playing Serenity tomorrow (Oct 28), which should mean it's playing through the weekend. Showtimes are 11:55am, 2:35, 7:45, and 10:25. However, information beyond that gets really sketchy. Think you'll have to wait maybe another week before you'll get a definitive answer--will probably depend on how well it does this weekend.

Thanks for replying (and so quickly, I might add). But Fandango doesn't have information for that far in advance. (Actually, I didn't even see more than today's listing, though I believe you can purchase tickets a few days in advance. Not two weeks, however.)

Thanks.

On Fandango, just above the first theater listed, there's a box that says "Date of Showing." You then select a date (like tommorrow, for example). For your theater they have show times (which can be purchased) as far in advance as November 9, but only for two of the newer bigger releases: Jarhead & Chicken Little. I suspect the management decides on what else to show depending on how well it's doing over the weekend. They have listed Serenity showing as far as Nov 3, but no further. (They only have Jarhead and Chicken Little listed for the weekend of the 4th, so I don't think they've made up their minds about anything else thus far).

I'm not sure at this point you'll find any source that can tell you show times that far in advance, because again I think it's up to the local theater management to determine which films to keep and which to drop.

Wow! I couldn't find that "November 3rd" listing before. That's super-encouraging! (I figured there was a chance it'd be around til the tenth, seeing as even today, there are five showtimes. So to see four showtimes as late as the third, I feel pretty confident.)

*This would be my third viewing of the BDM, following a pre-screening in San Francisco and an opening day viewing in my small town (the very first showing wasn't until 1pm, though, and besides me and my pal, there were eleven old folks there -- no browncoats).

Thanks so much for your help, StakeTheLurk!

Browncoats rock!
