INSIDETV.EW.COM - The Cape isn’t adapted from an existing comic book, but it is downright “comic booky” in its embrace of old school superhero comic book storytelling, from its heightened reality fantasy world to its arch villains to its floridly written chapter headings. Some critics have described The Cape as “cartoony” or even kitschy, especially when they choose to compare it to popular grim and gritty superhero fare like The Dark Knight. But the show comes with a provocative perspective on the current state of superhero pop, and more, finds a sly way to announce and articulate that point of view via a geeky little Easter egg hidden the bedroom of Vince’s son. It’s a comic book–not a fake one like “The Cape”, but one that you can probably find at your local comic book store… provided your local comic book store is still the kind that’s well stocked with sealed-in-plastic back issues and hasn’t replaced those bins in favor of graphic novels and trade paperbacks...

OLDGUY

What Would Mal do ?

I finally made some time and pulled the Cape pilot down from itunes. I'm looking forward to more epis as it looks like it gets better reviews about 3 shows in.
I like it, I get what they are trying to do with the comic book format...taking it for that, it's an enjoyable 40 minutes of my day.

As with most shows out today, the only reason it caught my attention was that it features one of Joss's cast/crew.

my current library of itune TV shows:
Castle
Chuck
Sarah Connor
and now the Cape

you get my point. I doubt I would have even looked twice at the premise of Chuck, but hearing that "Jayne" was in it.. I had to take a look...and the DVD collections couldn't hit my machine fast enough.
Fortunately, the wife is right there with me on enjoying these shows...especially Castle of course. But she gets the Cape/Wheeler's effort as well...hope it at least gets a season of show to enjoy.

The Cape reminds me of Firefly, train robbers with hearts of gold.

But not enough flirting or sex. Too PG.

Comedy is not as funny unless its self-depricating.

Joss is still The King.
