Firefly and 'Hallelujah'?

I'm a fairly new Whedonist, and I didn't catch Firefly in its original run. I was reading the Browncoat Chronicles and was puzzled by the associations of "Hallelujah" (orig. by Leonard Cohen) with FF fandom. At first I thought it was just some FFF thing, but then I saw it mentioned on TWoP as "the Firefly song." So I was just wondering what the connection is? Thematic? Was it used in one of the promos? I really like the song itself, in any of its incarnations, though especially the Bono and Jeff Buckley versions.

I was wondering if you know somewhere else that Hallelujah vid might be since I want to add it to my collection and this link isn't working.
