Tieka brought up the question as to whether it was possible for users to post comments to the episode reviews located in episode guide. Now, why didn't I think of that?

Anyway, a bit of hacking and the feature has now been added. The only thing is there are no preview nor edit of the comments. If it's something that you guys feel you need, then I'll add those at later date.

Anyway, you can check out what it looks like here:

ACK!!! Well... it would be nice to edit - but I guess I need to understand a bit about the intent of the review section, as opposed to the episodes forum.

It seems that by having them separate, we are deliberately underutilizing one or the other or both... there are several reviews in eps that are read but not generating comment. Why would I want to put my review there? And yet, I like the point system! So, can we skip the episodes forum altogether, so that the eps can be discussed in the review forum, with all the editing features, that we are used to?

The episode forum is used to discuss, well, the episodes themselves. Whereas the review section in the episode guide allows members to review and rate the episodes.

Having all the reviews in one place is good in that it gives people reading the reviews a general consensus about the episode.

The way I look at it, having the reviews in the episode forums isn't very good in that they tend to get buried over time. So it's really to the benefit of the reviewer to post the reviews in the episode guide as they are read more often over a longer period of time.

So, there are no objections to posting twice?

I ask because I have a periodic review that I do want to get comments on, and I don't want to bury it in the review section, where people read it, but don't always comment.

BTW, thanks for getting back to me! And thanks for making this site - it rocks!

One more quick question - why don't my posts in Episode Reviews show up as recent posts?

Objections? Nope, not really. If I had the time, I've already dreamt up a mad scientist way of actually linking the review section and the episode forums together so that reviews and comments need only be posted once so that reviews posted in the episode guide will automatically appear in the episode forum. Furthermore, any comments to the review will also appear in the forum and vice versa.

That's if I had the time to code it, which I currently don't, unfortunately, because of real life stuff.

Real life! Who needs it anyway! LOL! O.k. But I want to report a buggy in the episode review section (and it might not be a bug). Even though the button is checked to remember me, when I come back to the site, it doesn't always remember me unless I'm still in the same browser. Then, if I'm in the same browser, it remembers me, but my comments show up as anonymous, unless I re-log in. Can you help with that?

It has to do with the cookies. You have to have cookies enabled. And the cookies are browser specific so switching browsers will cause a problem.

Let me know if this is a persistant problem, I can always make it so that it's not cookie dependent.

Well, look at this thread:
http://www.fireflyfans.net/reviews.asp?r=118

You see the number of people posting as anonymous? I don't know if they have accounts or not, but I do know that I and Delvo both have accounts - and I know that when I posted anonymously, my name showed up on the navigation bar, but did not show up for posting purposes (in other words, the cookie recognized me, but did not log me in).

Does that help any?
