The other night I tried to watch Star Trek III, and after a few minutes, I realized what I really wanted to see was Firefly, so I put on the pilot.
In past days I've tried to watch Cutthroat Island, Terminator 2, The Matrix, Return Of The Jedi, and Solaris. Same thing, after a few minutes, I default to FF or Buffy (or Dark Angel).
The witty character stuff, Zoic's effects; I'm totally spoiled! Only Dark Angel can keep up with Joss' stuff. Why do I even keep my many movies? I should sell em all and just get the Buffy seasons I don't own, right?

Am I alone in having dvd's I can't watch due to Joss?

But I'm keeping Blade Runner Chrisisall

You have my fullest understanding. Though I am not a major DVD owner cuz of that whole money thing. However I do torrent a lot of old tv shows. Macgyver, Star Trek, The Tick (animated), Greatest American Hero. And we own Season 1-5 of SG-1. I did have all of Angel on torrent, however they are no longer with us. oh, and LOST.

I don't have the every-DVD-pales-in-comparison-to-Joss problem because the few other DVD's I own aren't anywhere close to dwelling on the same turf as Joss.

Yes, you should keep DARK ANGEL and BLADE RUNNER and sell the rest ('cause how often do you watch them, really?) and buy the Seasons of BUFFY you don't own. Or at least Season 5 anyway.

I must have 50 dvd's I almost never watch!!!
I guess I'm keepin' 'em more for sentimental reasons. And a girl I work with just today ordered me to get all 7 seasons of Buffy!
I'm her gorram SUPERVISOR, and she's ordering ME!!!

She can't order me to do ANYTHING; she has no Mr. Pointy

Fortunately, I got to ease into the whole Joss thing over several years. I've been watching his shows on original air dates since The Pack in Buffy season one -- actually, since the original movie came out. I didn't know who Joss was, and the movie was flawed but still good enough to make me a Kristy Swanson fan.

However, if I've followed your story correctly, you've smacked yourself upside the head with Joss's full oeuvre in one mighty binge. My God man, it's a wonder you're still alive! I imagine you with the same distant stare and transformed flowing beard of Charlton Heston's Moses after he's seen the burning bush, or with the shocked submission of Peter Finch's Howard Beale after Ned Beatty's Arthur Jensen Hell-fire-and-brimstones the Corporate word of God down on his head in Network!

You probably need an intervention. You need to reset you're critical thinking back to it's default state; so here's what you do. Get away from that TV and DVD player RIGHT NOW! Go find an actual movie theater, but not just any movie theater; a budget theater that's still playing Herbbie; Fully Loaded. You heard me! Go to a matinee with little kids in it, sit down, stop thinking, and laugh along with the kids every time Herbbie squirts motor oil in Matt Dillon's face. That should do it.

I know, it sounds grim, but you'll thank me afterwards.
