Of course I'm referring to the ORIGINAL series. I just recently acquired my boxed sets 1 & 2, and am anxiously awaitng Set 3.

Of note, I am not from the UK, nor have I ever visited there (except in my childhood fantasies after watching this series). I watched the series on Nickelodeon in I believe the late 70's or early 80's, well after it went off the air, and have been a fan ever since seeing it.

By no means the level of acting of Firefly, or most series nowadays, but it has been a fun ride down memory lane watching my DVDs.

Anyway, was just wondering.

I remember but I think I only saw the second series on Nick. They remade it I think in the 90's. I may have seen the reruns as a child. It's been so long I can remember watching it but nothing specific.

I vaguely remember watching it in the '70s in Britain. Cheap production values but good storylines, kinda like Dr Who from the same era (Tom Baker). I remember a storyarc about Hitler actually being an alien...

Yeah, the original series ran from 1972 to 1979. I had heard (and then read online) that Nickelodeon did a remake of the original series, but by the time that was aired, I was too old to watch Nickelodeon without getting strange looks from my wife. On one of the sets I have, one of the original actors made fun of Nickelodeon because they could not "capture the essence" of the original series.

Also, they mentioned that they were Thames Entertainment's answer to Doctor Who. They even used some of the writers from Doctor Who for a couple of the episodes.

Anywho, it's great that I am not the only person who remembers them, was beginning to feel lonely out here in the black.

I remember watching it on Nick when I was just a wee lad. My brother and I would pretend to be tomorrow people. Of course, I hardly remember any details of it anymore and I'm a bit afraid of what I'd think of it seeing it today. Its on my netflix queue, but I haven't had the heart to move it to the top (so at this rate it'll be a couple years before I get it).

Entirely pointy.

That was my favorite show when I was a kid. (the 70's version-I've never seen the new one). I used to watch it after school on nicelodeon. As I recall, the theme music was pretty cool, too.

My folks went to the core and all I got was this lousy T-shirt. 22

Yep Tommorow People was one of the staples of my child TV diet. I always wanted one of those belts so I could 'Jaunt'. I always remeber fast cutting intro credits with a hand and a theme tune which was not too bad :) I loved Sci-Fi from a young age and also loved Space 1999, Sapphire and Steel, Blakes 7 and so on.

Heh. I bugged my step-father relentlessly until he used his circular saw to cut and score a piece of wood "just so".

Then with a little model paint, some old black belts and a little imagination, I had a white and black checkered jaunting belt =)

Oh, and Space 1999....heh..I actually had the "Eagle". I tore the hell outta that toy, little did I know what such treasures would be worth one day =(

I was, I think 16 when I first saw it. And it seemed to be worthwhile entertainment to me. Not the greatest show but reasonably interesting stories. I doubt you should dread watching them again.

What I found after watching them again is this: watching them as a child was how I got the full entertainment value out of them.

I bought and watched the entire series again purely out of nostolgic value. By comparison, this series special effects were not even of the caliber of Star Trak: TOS which had aired a decade earlier.

If you like to criticize shows, don't watch it again. You will find yourself tearing it apart more than enjoying the show.

But if you can suspend your critic for just a little while, when you first see the opening credits and listen to the defintely early 70's music, you might capture that feeling you had as a child that sparked that interest in the show.

All in all, I felt it was a good investment for me. When my daughter's a bit older, I think she may enjoy them as well. And, on the last DVD, there's a documentary that shows almost all of the original cast and what they are doing today.
