Anyone seen this? It's not bad, it has the prerequisite
explosions, but a tiny bit more of a story than the average blast-em flick.
FX by Digital Domain are top notch, and I've always been a sucker for airial fighter stuff.

After renting Doom and Aeon Flux, this was refreshing.

** 1/2* (add half a star if you own Firefox or Broken Arrow)

Never thought of it that way...good description, though.
I thought it was pretty good myself. I am also a sucker for a good, fast, fighter-plane movie. This fit the bill quite nicely.

I noticed a bit of HAL in the plane's "personality"...you?

Definitly. Even the scene where they're talking on the other side of that hanging sheet so that EDI can read their lips reminded me of 2001 (but they seemed audible enough...maybe it was intended just as an homage and not a rip off...)

Seriously, I thought the FX were Serenity quality; Digital Domain seems to have learned a lot from Zoic. Got a real sense of weight and substance from those Talons.

Finally accepting CGI Chrisisall

Yes, I was duly impressed as well. Did you happen to watch any of the DVD extras? I think they had a segment on mating the CGI to the "real" shots...quite impressive.

No, just saw it last night, I will check it out; I think CGI has finally made it to where it is no longer 'that pixley crap' I saw in Babylon 5 and Star Trek TNG (No offence to the actual shows...).

Chrisisall, who still misses models and mattes

I agree that CGI is coming a long way...but yes, I also miss the models...

Although, there were models on the desk in one of the offices, and the camera tracked around them real good...

OH! Pet peeve about Stealth that started in seventies flicks like Enter The Dragon and Capricorn One...

ChrisIsAll...not to go off-topic, but I found something rather shiny. I am not sure if you are a fan of the movie Equilibrium or not (I seem to remember you saying you did...but I could be way off) so I'll post it in case you are. Just an animated gif, but made me smile.

Well, it's not quite as good as Firefox, imho, but it does move along more rapidly, and the FX alone are worth the rental. Definitly fun.
