Adverse reviews wont stop me giving it a go though. I remember the panning Brazil received all those years ago, and now look at it. It's regarded as a classic.

Still I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it.

Cheers Storymark.

I'm in the same boat, it didn't play anywhere around me. I think it only played in a dozen or so theatres anyway. As to the reviews, it's not just critics. I frequent a number of movie-focused boards, and the best I've seen about it, was along the lines of "interesting failure". I'll still check it out, no doubt, but I'm tempering my expectations.

Finn Mac, thanks for pointing out Galaxy Quest was 1999. I just remembered the 4 times I saw it in cinema were all in 2000.

Also, thanks to those who reminded me of Pan's Labyrinth.

Ummm......yeh.

We should wait until 2013 and then make a list, right?

I think this is useful as a tool to check out other decent flicks which fellow browncoats also enjoyed.

I suspect it will be difficult to find an unadulterated copy of the 2007 versions of 300 come year 3000, what with the 2020 and 2054 remakes. I'll see them now.

Galaxy Quest was a great movie, and especially so after renting it along with the movie believe was titled, "Trekkies." It was a movie about the Star Trek Fan base and how they deal with their obsession in their mundane lives. It was a pretty funny movie unintentionally, and in the way Galaxy Quest was able to incorporate many of the characters from Trekkies into their own movie was hilarious.

SERENITY is hands down the best movie I've seen in decades. I just watched it again this weekend for about the 10th time. It truly gets better with each viweing for me. The movie is THICK! I don't mean "thick" in the George Lucas special effects environment-creation/background vein, but "thick" as in plot, dialogue, and character development. You watch the first 30 minutes & you are grabbed and pinned to it, and there is so much going on, only to realize there's still 90 minutes to go! Just a perfect movie to watch and enjoy. Too bad " the masses" will never get it, or Firefly for that matter....but then again one cannot expect something as high-quality and non-politically correct to ever appeal to the masses. Serenity/ Firefly will always be cult, and that is a good thing. I'd rather have no more of it, than see it somehow Lucasized for consumption by the Wheel of Fortune crowd.

I would change opinions and Lord of the Rings Trilogy is something that aged better over time

South Koreans were great film makers when this thread was first made and since that time they have got even better
