Oh good lord!

For a series that finally lived up to everything it could be and was probably the best thing on telly this year, it was also blacker than pitch and didn't pull a single one of its gut punches.

So for anyone else who is absolutly exhilirated, a little bruised around the middle and also in need of a big hug right now...

Virtual Hugs 'r' us!

*sob*IANTO*sob* I can't get over it. I actually cried. Just .. WAH.

My only condolence is that Gareth David Lloyd is actually in a panto near me this year .. so I can at least see his pretty, pretty face again. :'(

Extremely jealous! though not sure why - I hate panto.

But Yes, *sob* Ianto! - and Jack's grandson - that was the worst bit! Just watching that bit... oh! It got hard to breathe during that last episode to be honest - big lump formed in my throat when they started taking the children and stayed.

If theres a season 4 i don't think i care for it to be quite that bleak but this - the mini series - was just amazing. (And to be honest, the wake up call some people needed - i'm as guilty as any about going on about chav's etc).

It bleedin' typical that i start this thread and then my internet connection goes kerplooey. Blah.

LWAVES

I was shocked when both Owen and Tosh went at the end of the last series. Two main characters out of six in one episode is virtually unheard of. TV shows just don't do that.
And then when Ianto died I kept saying to myself that they'll bring him back, some twist of the plot will allow him to come back to life.
But no it didn't.

I really didn't expect his grandson to go. You could see how Jack couldn't even look at him, he just ignored him. Powerful stuff.

I do wonder what they are going to do next. Effectively there is no Torchwood. The Hub has been destroyed. Gwen will be popping out a baby and Jack is in space (obviously a handy way to get him nearer The Doctor for his inevitable return in one of the upcoming specials).

So where next?
A new base?
Rebuild the old one?
Jack, Gwen and ??????

My friend && I were saying that if it comes back it'll have to be a "Five Years Later" thing .. with a Torchwood child in its midst. Thinking back to what was said in the first season tho:
Quote:

This is Torchwood Three. Torchwood One was London—destroyed in the battle. Torchwood Two is an office in Glasgow. A very strange man. Torchwood Three, Cardiff. Torchwood Four has kinda gone missing but we'll find it one day.
Out of 4 Torchwoods, only one is left ... and its run by one 'very strange man' ... the world is doomed.

GEE

I hate to say it but I don't think there will be anymore... Russell T Davies is stepping away from Dr Who and although he hadn't written anything since the first episode till the two he just did, it was his baby and I don't see how it can easily come back.

I think it nicely wrapped up everyone's storylines, as was Cpt Jack's storyline in Dr Who so I think that's it and to be honest, as sad as that is, I'd rather it go out this way than jump through hoops for a reset.

I don't know - the ratings apparently (this was a casual aside from Simonwho) were good enough that the Beeb would probably want another season, and it does have legs even though few of the original characters are left.

Also RTD doesn't seem to have a problem setting things up then leaving them in the capable hands of others - after all, he's handing his solid gold baby over to Moffat.

I wouldn't be too sad about his doing the same with Torchwood - the show has shown that its at its strongest when its uncomprimising and very adult and I tend to find RTD's writing is stronger when aimed at children.

new character will be inevitiable but I think Lois will almost definitely turn up and, i have a wee inkling, Gwens hubby Rhys will join in - he already knows about everything, they had him playing a full part in the plans and they seemed to be showing him in a more capable way. Gwen, even with baby, wouldn't be able to keep from doing something while Jack is gone - he'd be natural back up.

Plus he's cool.

PHOENIXROSE

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Ianto was probably my favorite character. I totally bawled

I don't see how it could come back. If it does, I'm not sure I'll care all that much, with so many great characters out of it.
...Unless there's more John Hart, I'd never say not to that.
