CHAPTERANDVERSE

Anyone watching?

Couldn't find any earlier threads, but humblest apologies if this has already been discussed.

I had this figured as a twilight thing, but I downloaded the ep that Gina was in and am now about halfway through the series, which I know had its finale in the States last week.

The first episode was terrible, but it progresses well after that, largely due to the character of Damon, played by Ian Somerhalder, who is excellently written and surprisingly dark. There is definitely a strong Joss influence here, which is all for the good in my book.
i can imagine that some people will hate it, but I have been pleasantly surprised.

Anyone else checking it out?

I've been watching since the beginning, and have enjoyed the series thusfar.

When I first heard about it, I KNEW in my heart that it would be a Twilight wannabe. And I was right, at least at first.

While it obviously doesn't have the big budget of a motion picture, the storyline carries it along quite well. The overly used (IMHO) self-loathing vampire character is overshadowed very well with the character Damon. Otherwise I would definitely cry "ripoff!!"

All-in-all, I'm hoping for a second season. I'd like to see what kind of ride this story takes.

I agree with you completely on the self-loathing vampire thing. Thank god for the Damon character or I would have jumped ship long ago.
Do you know when the second series is expected to kick off?

They just aired the season finale, so I wouldn't expect it until the Fall 2010.

Tried it a couple times. Couldn't get into it. Doubt I'll be back.
