CHRISISALL

Okay, on vacation here in Arizona, and I felt the need to share that we bought Dr. No on DVD to watch... Dadisall bowed out, but Sonisall and I watched it (first time ever for him, first time in 30 years for me), and we *loved* it. Man, I totally forgot what a great flick that was!!! As a kid I remember hating Weisman as the villain because he was a white guy, but now I remember from the novel I read later that he was only half Chinese. It was like discovering gold or something! And the digitally cleaned-up image was astounding!

Well, I'm all sunburnt here while Sonisall is watching Last Starfighter, so I'll say bye for now. Wish I brought Dollhouse here; I still haven't seen the original pilot...

I love AZ in the Summer! Smells like...a survival test!
Actually, it's not bad at all (but 2 hrs of easy rock-climbing with no sunscreen & no shirt will take its burn-baby-burn toll).

But, on topic, the character of Bond was MOST like that in the novels in the movie Dr. No, IMO. Sure, From Russia With Love was excellent, and Goldfinger... but there was a raw, unrefined quality about Dr. No that I find I savour.

My all-time favourites are still Thunderball & Tomorrow Never Dies, though.

LWAVES

Chrisisall: "Do you expect me use suncream?"
Sonisall: "No, Mr Isall, I expect you to burn!"

Hope you all have a good time.

I've never read any of the novels but I did read one of the novellas that was called Licence Revoked, I think. I remember coz he drove the same model Saab that was our family car at the time.

I pretty much like all the Bond movies to varying degrees except Die Another Day which is too silly even for Bond. Plus it has the worst theme tune by Madonna and it features Madonna .
I've always liked You Only Live Twice. Ninjas, Japanese girls, the big satellite dish, the huge set 'underneath' and japanese girls. What's not to like?
This would be followed by Tomorrow Never Dies, Goldfinger and Thunderball.

Fave Bond girl?
Michelle Yeoh and Carole Bouquet for first choices.

I may be too sensitive here, but Kissy died & Bond didn't seem to care too much... other than that, good show.

Ah the lovely Mrs. Peel.....

On Her Majesty's Secret Service is one of the few Bond movies I've never seen. I know, I'm so ashamed!

What's the difference between a lobster and Chrisisall?

Answer: The lobster has claws. ;-)

Get it!? red as..............lol

Great that ur passing on the Bond tradition onto number one son. Especially something from ur childhood. I remember my first was From Russia, then Goldfinger (I didn't get to see Dr. No in the theatre).

My Fav Bond: Sean Connery (the original)
My fav: Goldfinger
Fav Bond girl name: Pussy Galore (smirk, giggle)
Fav Bond Girl: a toss up between Michelle Yeoh and Halle Berry (I can't remember their screen names).
Fav Bond song: Goldfinger/You Only Live Twice
Fav Bond Meanie: Blofeld/Klebb
Fav Bond Henchman: Odd Job
Fav Bond Cheesy line:

Bond: “Who are you?”
Pussy: “My name is Pussy Galore.”
Bond: “I must be dreaming.”

I'm sure there's more; I'll come back later.

Last Starfighter - fav guilty pleasure

The reason why I like Dr. No is because it's the old Bond (shaken, not stirred) before the imposters starting screwing with the action, bravado and sheer delight of the originator.
I saw Moonraker in the theatre and almost hurled.

Sean Connery is Bond, even Pierce Brosnan wasn't quite enough.

I agree to a point; but Pierce was a phenomenal second choice IMO.

Moore was a joke & Dalton was miscast.

Lazenby was good, and it was too bad he didn't do Moore's run.

I agree Chris. Brosnan breathed new life into a dead and dying franchise, and was quite credible as Bond.

I like the new/new treatment with Daniel Craig. Olga Kurylenko in 'Solace' (schwing!); but I'm from the old school - Sean Connery is the shit.

CATPIRATE

Honey Rider in 1962 had a look that still holds up to today's look, I think. Every generation has their own Bond mine is Connery and Moore. Dr No was actually a flop on the first run but after From Russia with Love became a mega hit it was re released so I am told. Casino Royale should have been the first movie. They did not own the rights at that time. Spectre is the shadow goverment that is discovered by Daniel Craig. In Dr No this is Bond's first encounters of this secret group.

Totally agree!
The final nail in the coffin for that one was when Bond comes over the waves in that MacGyverized sailboard.
My favorite thing about the Bond films is the stunts, and in the days before CGI, you could tell just by the camera placement that you were seeing a real guy skiing off the edge of the cliff, or flipping the car in a spiral...

In Die Another Day, we get this Bullet-Time lookin' "virtual camera" move that swoops down and around onto Brosnan's obviously CGI'd face, and it kills the whole thing.
