I saw it in the theatre years & years ago, and my recollection is that it was totally hi-larious.

Thoughts?
Bunks?

It is Paleozoic porn (1974) which is set in the 26th Century. Same time period as Firefly, yet in an alternate Universe. It is rated 4.3 on a scale of 10 at www.imdb.com/title/tt0068595/

never actually saw it, but when i was a smallish child, i remember a trip to the video store, i forget what we were actually trying to rent, but after we left the store, i looked @ the tape they had given us, and it was Flesh Gordon.

dad Immediately turned the car around, stormed back into the store, and made 100% sure that we got the RIGHT movie this time.

I saw Flesh in the movies when it came out. It was very funny, very sexy, and very cool for it's day. I have the DVD now, and I never leave the house without my power pasties charged up.

America loves a winner!

It was a taboo subject in HS, as I recall. Whispers exchanged by kids in small groups, when teachers were no where to be seen.

Talk of 'midnight movies' and the like, were tossed about. We knew what sort of kids went to THOSE sorts of movies, and what went on, so late at night.

In 1974 when Flesh was released it was considered not all that taboo. It had some soft-core porn elements to it, much like Fritz The Cat, another late-nite baudy popular film of the time. By 1974 hardcore X-rated movies had begun to be shown in legitimate NYC movie houses. Starting in the late sixties, it went something like this if my memory serves me.....first, I Am Curious Yellow, then Blow Up (both X-rated, but mostly soft-core).....then the big one that broke the mold forever.....Deep Throat. After Deep Throat was allowed to remain in theaters a new tidal wave of theatrical-released hardcore X-rated movies appeared, one of the earliest and most notorious being Behind The Green Door. It was a great time to be a young man, if such entertainment was your thing.

I saw it at a little art house movie theatre, and the crowd was mostly roaring with laughter.

HAHAHA!! I have seen bits and pieces of this and had heard about it. Most of the talk, like you said Chris, was about how funny it was.

Like Barbarella only raunchier. Again, a film I've only seen snippets of.

Note to self, plan a sci-fi raunch night.

Are thereaAny other sci-fi films similar? The Perils Of Gwendoline, not so much sci-fi butt...

Heard of, but have never seen.

TRAVELER

I saw this film when hit the theaters. I also rented many years later. They removed a lot of scenes prior to its release to get an R rating and from what I could remember the rental was further reduced. But they did not remove the humor. It was funny as is still a funny flick.

Expired, forgotten, spoiled rotten.

There's an R version? Does that mean that this is more spoof than porn unlike the many incarnations of Sex Trek?

Likes to mess with stuffs.

A very long story as to why we ended up seeing it when I was middle school age, but first hint that it wasn't "Flash" Gordon was when the ship was shaped like a flying penis in the opening scenes.

We just went "ah..okay" and then ended up watching the rest of it. We were teens, so it wasn't that bad. Anything with boobs and soft core was five stars cinema.

At 18 I gave it four stars.
And a trip to my bunk later on.
