I think the answer to that question is yes.

But are they just going to ruin it like they ruin everything else by stripping it of all the fun and injecting their political agendas and preaching to us again?

The premise sounds good. Really, it's probably the only story they could tell, given the source material.

It was either that, or the DillDozer scene from Idiocracy on loop for 10 hours.

Depending on who's hands this was in, that might actually be preferable to whatever it is we get.

Why not

People watch races, Le Mans, Daytona Indianapolis and Bonneville, Nascar, F-1 they watch truck Desert racing and car vs bike across the sands, Big Wheel Truck racing.
They watch non Race 'Smash' events like Demolition Derby, stunts like Monster truck.

People play and buy lots of Race Games since the 80s, Mad Max Scifi stuff, OutRun, Gran Turismo, Mario Kart, Destruction Derby

Rush, French Connection, Days of Thunder, Death Race 2000, the French Taxi are popular movies and Fast and the Furious is a popular franchise.

Really, that's all it ever could be. And probably all it ever needed to be. I had many hours of fun playing those games with my brothers and friends more than half a lifetime ago. It was good, dumb fun.

It sounds like they nailed it too.

It's amazing what you can do with source material when you have fun and established showrunners like the creators of Zombieland and Deadpool making your streaming TV show instead of hiring some independent woman who don't need no man or some minority woman who's only directing credit is some indie flick that nobody outside of the Sundance crowd has ever heard of before. Yanno... somebody who has never even heard of the source material or just downright hates it in the first place.

Good for them. I can't imagine that I'll ever get around to watching it since I don't really watch any TV shows anymore and there are a lot of them on the pile of things that I haven't seen which I'd watch before I started this one, but I'm happy to see that maybe they're starting to finally figure out how to get video game adaptations right.

Just don't expect much out of Last of Us 2's 2nd season. A lot of normies are going to tune out on that one very quickly unless it deviates FAR from the source material. Remember that the woke crowd and talentless agenda-pushing writers have invaded the video game space already as well.
