Wow. When I was your age (watch out, great-granpa Chrisisall is gonna reminisce) my favourite episode of TV was 'The Naked Time' from the original Star Trek. And I was only months away from seeing Star Wars. How far we've come.
Enjoy this age, dude, it goes so fast from here on out.

Just saw Graduation, 1 & 2, and it sure was cool, but Zeppo still rules, IMHO.
Maybe there's a better ep out there, but not in the first three seasons.

It was near Bruce Campbell perfection Chrisisall

Wow you have some serious Zeppo love there ;) I'd say there are at least 10 eps better than the Zeppo in the first 3 years IMO, maybe more. However, it may be one of the most quotable eps out there, and definitely proves how brilliant the later years could have been if they'd given certain characters a little more play.

Graduation Day was solid, but I didn't like the idea of every student finding out the truth, particularly as

I guess it's my favourite simply based on how hard and how often it made me laugh. I'm usually not that animated for almost 45 solid minutes!

BATMARLOWE

Season 3 has too many great episodes for me to pick a favorite, but "The Zeppo" is one of them.

Just finished watching S3 myself. It had a real effect on me. I had dreams that involved Buffy and Cordelia--and not the good kind. I don't remember the specifics but it had to do with death and sadness. I woke up feeling disturbed and it took a few hours to shake that feeling.

But anyway it's still my favorite season. I think the character and story arcs meshed perfectly.

On to season 4! Let us know your reaction to the change-up.

I just rented and watched the first four eps of Angel, and I wasn't all that thrilled...(?)
Spike sitting on the roof narrating what he saw Angel doing after he rescued that girl was hi-larious, but I guess I ...
I mean, I...
It feels a little 'diluted' if you take my meaning. Where's Xander? Buffy? Willow?
You know? It just seems not as complete as Buffy, and maybe a little too serious given the subject matter ( demons, guys who come apart, etc.)
Is it just me?
A lot of Batman refrences, too.
Firefly is SO original, with a refreshing lack of pop culture refrences...( I fully expect it to be refrenced itself in movies and series to come after the BDM premiere ).
One question also about BS4, do they handle Willow realizing she's gay believably? There was no hint of a gay bone in her body in the first three seasons- does it come off okay, or is it kinda phoney?

Angel S1 is my favourite season of Joss TV. I'm surprised you thought it wasn't 'complete' - were you actually expecting to see all these Buffy characters crossing over in the first four eps? I say persevere - there are some belters to come.

Personally I think they made a bit of a hash of it, but I know a lot of people will disagree.

Hang on Chrisisall - if you've just finished Grad Day, Willow's "gayness" should still be a mystery to you! We've been trying so hard to avoid spoilers for you....

Took me a while to get into Angel but stick with it. I bought the DVDs, then didn't get round to watching them (whereas Buffy would have been straight in the DVD player!). Then when I finally started watching them again I was hooked - watched Seasons 3-5 straight through, 2 episodes a night (OK, I'm sounding a little sad now).

And the Spike monologue is just one of the finest things EVER.

"How can I thank you, you mysterious, black-clad hunk of a night thing? No need, little lady, your tears of gratitude are enough for me. You see, I was once a badass vampire, but love and a pesky curse defanged me. Now I'm just a big, fluffy puppy with bad teeth. No, not the hair! Never the hair! But there must be someway I can show my appreciation. No, helping those in need's my job - and working up a load of sexual tension, and prancing away like a magnificent poof is truly thanks enough! I understand. I have a nephew who is gay. Say no more. Evil's still afoot! And I'm almost out of that Nancy-boy hair-gel that I like so much. Quickly, to the Angel-mobile, away!"

SHAMBLEAU

Chrisisall, it's already a little late, but Angel's first season and Buffy's fourth are frequently linked together, with what happens on Buffy being continued on Angel. It really helps to watch them together, with a Buffy episode first, followed by the corresponding Angel. On Angel, Angel calls Buffy in the first ep, for example, and then hangs up without talking to her. If you'd watched Buffy first, you'd have seen that call from her point of view. I'd highly recommend viewing the rest of these particular two seasons together, and, especially, the seventh eps of their next seasons, it adds an extra dimension to both shows.

As for Angel's first season, most reviews of the show are of the opinion that it didn't start to take off until about halfway through. I'd put it a little earlier, but the second half of the first season and the first 19 eps of the second are my favorites of the run.

I don't mean I wanted to see 'em, I mean it just 'feels' like family, and I guess the first 4 eps of Angel haven't developed that quality yet.

Of course Angel hasn't built up a "family" in the first four episodes. He's Angel. He spent 90 years pretty much on his own; it was only learning about Buffy's plight that got him out of the dumpster (literally). He's Mr. Broodypants, and he just can't find 6 friends to hang out with and love forever and ever within a few weeks of moving to L.A. Angel's emotional journey is one of the most fascinating things about the show. How he begins to relate to people--even if he doesn't actually want to--is what drives everything. The family togetherness (uh...) will come. It's a journey. A wacky roller-coaster ride of Angel and his mental health issues.

I love the first episode, but the ones after that aren't so strong. It gets better and better each time out in the first season. It gets less and less monster-of-the-week/detective and becomes more about motivation and motives and all sorts of things. The show can be so amazing. And Firefly fans should find a lot to recognize in Angel. I think thematically it's more similar than in Buffy. Angel is about adults who know who they are, but live in a very gray and murky world. Bad guys (or dudes with horns and a tail) are maybe not such bad guys. Good guys have shady pasts and sometimes still do shady things. It's about how to live in a tough world and how to become an example of something positive in that world.

When you're a 240-something year old who once murdered thousands of people but is now trying for redemption, how can you possibly fit in? When you live in a society who would hate you and want to chop off your head if they knew what you were, how can you make a difference? Should you even bother?

I've gone on for way too long. Sometimes I just miss my show so much.

You sound like I do when I go on about Dark Angel. Angel got 5 seasons, that's something. Firefly has ignited a movie.

Actually, there's a scene in Doppelgangland that's pretty blatant in hindsight.

I second the recommendation that you watch Bs4 and As1 together.

I don't think it's that blatant to be honest. It's suggestive, but Vamp Willow and Xander aren't exactly 'just friends' in the Wishverse are they?

Willow, just remember, a vampire's personality has nothing to do with the person it was.
ANGEL
Well, actually... (off Buffy's look) that's a good point.

Maybe not blatant...but definitely in the realm of foreshadowing.

The only part of Buffy that elicited a tear for me was when Buffy was begging Angel not to see the sunrise just before it started to snow ( that was awsome ). Heck, I can think of six or more times DA and FF each had me in tears ( my barometer of a show's greatness, what can I say ).

I guess it's what you connect to in a series. My childhood was not as filled with loving joy as some, and I had no brothers or sisters, so Max's search for her brothers and sisters hits home for me. And my, Ahem, uneven love life prior to marrying my wife puts me in touch with the whole Max/Logan angst thing in the 2nd season.
Then there's helping the kid in 'Haven', realizing how messed up Phil was in 'And I Am A Camera', almost killing herself with that implant to save Cindy from the 'Reds' in 'Rising',...as you see, I could go on and on.
For me, the emotional tone of the series was 'street real', even through the whole 'freak of the week' mess they went through.
Oh well, like the song says at the end of every episode,

I quite liked the first season of DA, and I'm not sure my life would have been complete without every season of BtVS. Saying that, compared to the previously mentioned two series, I loved AtS way more.

Trust me, Angel kicks ass. Give it time, let it grow on you, cuz it will. (Firefly is my alltime favorite, but Angel is a VERY close second.)

Nothing can compare to the complexity of Angel and the absolute love that went into it. The love that went into AtS is quite apparent! :) Live it and Love it!

I agree, I love Zeppo. Xander is my favorite guy besides Spike, Andrew, and Willow on the show. I can relate to him (Spike,Willow, and Andrew) the
most out of all of them.

I especially loved how they play the episode dramatically when from looking through Xander's perspective it seems kind of silly and really overdramatic.

I'm not too keen on Faith being his first time. But it makes up for the.

Buffy: "Did your eye just twitch when I said Faith?"
Xander: *twitch* "No."
Buffy: "It did."
Xander: "No it didn't"
Buffy: "Faith"
*Xander eye twitches*
Buffy: "Faith"
