ive only watched a few odd episodes of buffy, and this morning i was at my grandmothers watching something that called itself buffy, and i couldn't figure out if i was seeing the first ep, or what- the actress playing buffy was defanitly not smg, not sure who it was. that was what threw me, cause i didn't know anyone else ever played buffy. it seemed like it could have been the first one, in that apparently she was finding out about vampires for the first time. there was a basketball game, and a dance, and some sort of motercyclechasething. it also defanitly seemed to be some years old, judging by the costumes. so- did i see the first episode, or something else, or what?

What you saw is the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer which came out before the show. Its good for a laugh.

Yeah the first is not the best, but if you are a stickler for watching things in order like I am then I completely agree.

actually the first does a great job of introducing the characters...
without that then you can't really appreciate the greatness of the second season....
IMO

the movie was based on Joss' script that he wrote at age 21...
and the director and actors (mostly Donald Sutherland) didn't feel that it was necessary to follow Joss' script.
He has never gotten over it.
