The First scares me, it ain't no Glory that can be punched back!

Spike just keeps getting better!

Nathan is in the end.

Eliza is in it, too.

The music by Mr. Duncan is most awesome.

Zoic outdid anything in Buffy or Angel in the final ep.

It was cool.

That last one was a little subjective Chrisisall

Buffy. She was a complete superhero in season 7.

There were 2 things that bothered me however. Xander, and Willow pretty much no character development, and mostly just put on the back burner to make screen time for the potentials. They deserved much better, as they were my favorite characters.

Kennedy. Sweet mercy, did Willow need a love interest this season? and if so, why did it have to be Kennedy?
Kennedy would have been a great character to be killed off, if for the only reason being that I hated her. Hopefully with the comicbook series of Buffy coming out(the equivelant of a season 8) she will get killed off in the first issue. God I hated Kennedy.

Agree that Will and Xander did not get enough time, but I guess I'm in the minority in that Kennedy didn't bug me at all.

EMBERS

I loved the 'power' theme for Season 7...
Buffy getting kind of power crazy (telling everyone what to do) and
I was VERY surprised about the power sharing (Hope I'm not spoilering anyone!)

I was also unhappy w/the abundance of potential slayers when I first watched S7, but in subsequent viewings I find that it didn't bother me that much...
and in subsequent viewings I didn't think that Willow or Xander were really ignored more than they ever were (sure, knowing it was the last season made fans want them in it all the time, but they never were before either)

Personally I enjoyed Andrew a lot, particularly 'Storyteller' and 'Dirty Girls'

and Anya had one of the true great episodes, 'Selfless', of all of the Buffyverse. I'm one of the few (okay I better put this behind spoiler screen):

who didn't mind her dying, I thought the random death showed that you don't just lose the nameless potentials...

I find that S7 holds up well

Not that they were ignored, just not explored as much as they could've been.

Personally, I really don't have a single, solid complaint about S7.

JOSSISAGOD

I'm one of the ones who thinks Joss craps gold, so I LOVED every episode of the entire series. Kennedy didn't bother me at all either, probably because I thought Iyari Limon was hot. But seriously, I think The Potentials needed her, she seemed to be the most schooled in the ways of The Slayer, without actually being one herself until the end.

Select to view spoiler:

The fact that Kennedy was the one training The Potentials most of the time seemed to allow Buffy and Faith to do the really important stuff like killing Caleb.

Zander and Willow didn't get the screen time needed for their characters, particularly Zander, he seemed to just be Mr. Fix-it whenever a demon or Pontential broke anything, Willow seemed to relagated(SP) to the role of Kennedy's girlfriend who has Wiccan powers. Well, I'm spent!

JOSSIS(Most Definitely)AGOD

Self appointed Forsaken! Been on the list for a while now!

I agree that Willow and Xander didn't get enough screen time but like others said there were a lot of other characters and you couldn't just bring them in and just have them in the background. You just wouldn't relate to any of them by the end of the series - they would effectively have been cannon fodder.

I am also one of those that thinks Iyari/Kennedy is hot. I loved the bits where she was coming on to Willow and she didn't know how to react. Reminded me of the early seasons of Willow when she first met Oz.

On first veiwing I never really liked Andrew and thought his character was a bit silly. On the second and subsequent viewings I now think he is hilarious, and is great in scenes with Xander.

I personally don't think there are any weak seasons as a whole. There are weak areas and ideas in some, (never a big fan of The Initiative, just seemed to rip on the whole shadow government, Majestic, X-Files thing), but each season has some really fantastic ideas and stand out episodes.
Take the whole thing as one (long) story and it makes complete sense.
I always saw an overiding message that you don't have to do things alone. How many times did Buffy say that she is the slayer, only she can do this, she has to do this alone.
Ultimately we saw other slayers, she wasn't alone in the fight.
Throughout everything her friends and family were there til the end, despite squabbles and troubles.

By the end Buffy had finally come to terms completely with who she was and she wasn't the only one. All the others (survivors) had too.

I don't think Buffy came to terms with who she was, but that who she was changed. The only reason you get that fantastic glimmer of hope at the end is because she is no longer the 'one girl in all the world.'

Not to poop on the happy season 7 parade.

Let's see: I liked "Conversations with Dead People." Dawn's segment in that scared the bejesus out of me.

Liked "The Killer in Me" as I thought both Alyson and 'Warren' did a fantastic job playing the opposite parts.

Liked Potential for the last scene with Xander.

And I did like that Caleb was hiding out at Shadow Valley Vineyards: little Firefly reference for the flans (though I will admit to not picking up on it until recently).

The title is 'Buffy season 7 is great because...', but having good FX (in places) doesn't mean the season was great.

In fact, there's one absolute howler in the FX. Sunnydale is depicted at the end of Chosen as being in the middle of a desert, where we already know that it's on the coast and is surrounded by bluffs/hills etc. How they failed to catch that one I'll never know... ;)

And where exactly is the "woods?" The geography of Sunnydale has always been suspect, so I just shrugged when the big hole in the desert was shown.

No, I just remembered, there's bluffs on one side, but a short drive east of Sunnydale is the desert (South then takes ya to Vegas...).

About the Kennedy thing. I don't think I would have hated her one bit if she just remained one of the potentials, and nothing more. Willow simply didn't need another girlfriend in the season, and the fact that she hooked up with Kennedy just felt very forced. A lazy move on the writers end. They were probably like "Willow's a lesbian she has to have a lover, quick who can we find". I'm sorry, but replacing Tara the sweetest character in all the Buffyverse with Kennedy a man hating, militant, macho butch was just not a good call. I don't think anyone who's favorite character was Willow can disagree.

True, but living on the CA coast myself, I could more easily believe the desert scenario over the "woods" scenario. You've got to go awfully far north to get coastal woods in CA (Cambria is probably really the first).

I was ok with Xander's part in season seven, I especially loved his speech to dawn in "potential", that has got to be my all time favorite xander moment.

I totally agree with willow though, her story just dropped. There was a little bit of her struggle to rejoin the group and find her place, but I don't think enough of it was shown, so I agree with ya there.

And oh my god kennedy, didn't see the need for it, and I think it tarnished willow's love for tara, she moves on too easily, I know they did the whole turn into warren thing, but that wasn't enough, she shouldn't have been able to move on so easily.g

"Haha, mine is an evil laugh."

I didn't mind Willow moving on so much as who she moved on to. Tara and Willow were all sweet, caring, loving and so on. Kennedy was a brash, hard headed, aggressive girl. I just don't see Willow being attracted to that. I almost think it would have been cool for the show to be mature and show that just because two characters are lesbians they don't need to fall for each other. If Willow had rejected Kennedy and they just went their seperate ways that would have been far more realistic.

I didn’t like Kennedy much either. But… well, it really wasn’t Kennedy’s fault. I didn’t mind her as a character, and I didn’t mind her having a crush on Willow (who wouldn’t?), but I thought it was a bit soon for Willow to be hooking up with anyone. She lost the love of her life and went on a murderous killing spree… sure, yes, she went to England, had some calming tea, all that jazz, but that doesn’t mean she’s over what happened (which, in many ways, was the point of “The Killer in Me”). I think Willow needed a bit more time to herself to sort things out.

That, and Kennedy’s character needed a bit more time to develop. Eventually, I came to like her a little bit, but when she first started putting moves on Willow I didn’t know anything about her and it was annoying.

The storyline could have been handled better.

But this isn’t “things they should fix if they redid season 7”, this is “Buffy season 7 is great because...”

“Same time, Same Place”, “Storyteller”, “Selfless”, “Chosen”, “Conversations With Dead People”, “Potential”, and “Sleeper” were all amazing, standout episodes (at least, I thought so). I’d say that the weakest episode of the season was “Him”, which wasn’t bad at all. In fact, it was very entertaining (Anya robbing a bank!), it just wasn’t as moving as the other episodes. This season just didn’t have the low lows that others have had.
