Not sure what this has to do w/ Buffyverse, but I'm on your side w/ this one. Maybe it's so crazy, it just might work? And how'd they chose between the cavemen and the gecko? Was there a coin toss ? What next, Anthony Stewart Head's coffee commercials to be turned into a t.v. show too ?

Oh, wait.... was that what Buffy was REALLY suppose to be about ?

Has plenty to do with Buffy. VERONICA was the 'new' BUFFY, with the lead character being a petite blonde with superpowers (Okay Veronica's powers consisted of her brain rather than fists but you get the idea) and a wicked sense of humor. Joss was a huge fan (so was Kevin Smith and Stephen King). Alyson Hannigan was an occasional guest star, as was Charisma Carpenter. The guy who played Kakistos did a couple of eps. too.

I've also said that if there were ever going to be a BUFFY movie without SMG, I would nominate Kristen Bell in a heartbeat to replace her. No, I don't think Joss would ever actually recast the role (plus I generally hate recasts as a rule unless the original just isn't working), but Kristen is that good.

I found it more than a little ironic (not to mention moronic) that kick-ass VERONICA is not continuing as a series but those stupid cavemen are. It's like we're going backwards.

Entirely pointy.

I've been depressed about the cancellation of Veronica Mars for weeks. I think it should be noted, however, that despite poor ratings and virtually no network support, the show survived three years. It looks like there will be a DC comic, and I haven't given up hope for a feature film. Maybe, a series. Maybe Veronica could be the new James Bond. That would be awesome.
As for the cavemen, does anyone expect to see that show on the air three years from now?

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if it did last for years. There have been some pretty stupid shows that lasted several years. One had Alyssa Milano's boobs as a prominent feature, or so I'm told.

I like the idea of a movie and/or comics (which I'd heard about previously too), but honestly, I would rather have it as a series. A movie would never do justice to the relationships I don't think...it takes time, and an hour and a half just wouldn't cut it. Besides that, would a random person who's never seen the show--but who we need to be interested in the movie in order to get it made--"get" the relationships? The deep bond between Veronica and her father and all that they've been through? What about Wallace, or the complexity that is her relationship with Logan? Will it make 'random dude' interested enough to buy the dvds of the series?

SERENITY may not have been a mainstream success, but it did make newbies interested in FIREFLY...if they found out it had been a series first. I don't know that VERONICA would have that same kind of power, even as good as it is.

As for comics, I would buy them in a heartbeat. I feel like I HAVE to know how it ends for these characters. I just don't know if I would fall in love with the series as a comic as I have with BUFFY Season 8, and undoubtedly will with ANGEL Season 6.

No time to do the link, but just found out milliseconds ago that it's official about the comic...DC comics is looking for a fall release date, with creator Rob Thomas on board.

Found this on Eonline's Watch with Kristin page. Somebody who works for DC Comics is apparently confirming it.

I'll yield to your superior knowledge then, and plead ignorance and even a bit of guilt for not watching.

I did catch a few eps, early back when it came on, but somehow the show got lost in the shuffle of my limited t.v. viewing.

I will say that I did like what I saw, no question. But post several of my fav shows having been cancelled, ( y'all can guess which those were ), I felt unmotivated to fall for another pretty, young blonde. I trust you can understand. I discovered long ago that the bulk of the U.S. viewing public is simply too stupid to appreciate good t.v. when it's available.

So we're stuck w/ cavemen. Makes perfect sense to me.
