Spoilers Ahoy!

I liked that Giles and Faith seem to be making a connection, of sorts. Now if that could happen with the rest of the Scoobies, Faith might find a place with them after all.

Pfft! Forget that. The Captain Ron reference was what did it for me.

And I loved Joss' answer in the lettercol about Warren and the First. At least he's honest!

Probably my only negatives to the whole issue are Giles' sweater, and the artwork of Faith's face in the panel where she forks Giles. (Okay, the likeness on her wasn't great in some panels in the first few pages, either; got better as it went along.)

Must go read it again (right now!) before I can comment further. Awesomeness abounds!

No, you're right. Though honestly, I don't think that looks much like The Doctor. I didn't actually notice until someone on Whedonesque pointed it out.

oh, it was him that made me think it, as soon as I turned the page I was like, hang on, that looks like david tennant... oh and there's some blonde girl too she doesn't look anything like rose/billie though I don't think...

chris, yes xander's dialogue was amazing, in the training room? aw... I love xander...

he seems so young though, the way he's drawn, but also the way he's speaking is much more early xander... not complaining though, it's cute

Confused. I ordered my copy from the same place I always do, and it's usually here by now. Apparently though, I won't get it until next week now. I've never changed my shipping either. I don't get it at all.

He was puttin' on some weight toward the end of the TV show; but now, with runnin' the show and all, he's found time to work out, and his personality has responded accordingly.

This is my favorite issue so far. Love the interaction between Faith and Giles--too bad we're only getting to see it in this format; I think these scenes would've been incredible on-screen. We didn't get to see near enough of them together on the show. Glad we got to see Robin, if even only for a little bit, but I'm happy he and Faith didn't stay together. Faith's a loner at heart--tie her down to somebody, and she loses part of what it is that makes her "her".

Lady Savidge looks like an awesome baddie. In an interview, BKV described her as a "British Paris Hilton", and I can totally see that . The only negative is that just by the time we can start to really appreciate her talent for true evilocity, she'll be dead (by issue #9). Hopefully they'll do one of those things where her plan is thwarted, but she's able to escape (a la Amy & Warren in the first arc). Then we'd get to see her again at some point down the road, and Faith would be able to avoid having to kill her. I don't want her to have to do that--after everything she's come back from, I hate the idea of her having to kill a human again, no matter how evil.

I hope Jeanty gets the hang of Faith pretty quick. His efforts on Giles back in #2 were pretty blah, but he looks much better in #6, so hopefully practice makes perfect. And I liked that Faith is wearing the same dress on the last page as she is on the cover of #7 (unlike what Willow's wearing on the cover of #3 compared to what she looks like inside). The jewelry is different, but the dress is the same.

And speaking of Faith on the final page, did anyone else wish Willow had been around to say, "Gosh, look at those"? Maybe that's Jeanty's way of making it up to her for doing such a hit-and-miss job on her face throughout...

Neither do I.

On the other hand, it would be interesting to see how Faith would handle it. Would she relapse into old behavior, or would she be able to take the lessons she learned from Angel to heart? Personally, I think that Faith is a lot stronger than she was all those years ago, and would be able to overcome her actions. Not saying it wouldn't be hard, but I think she could pull through.

I'm not so much worried about her slipping back into old habits, the way an alcoholic or drug addict might, because I think she's a much different person now. I just don't think it's fair to her--that kind of thing will eat away at a person, for the rest of their lives. Bad enough she's already got two lives on her conscience (Finch and Spock--err, I mean, Lester the Volcanologist), but it's just not right to try to rope her into some scheme that'll add to the body count, even if the would-be-corpse in question is utterly, irredeemably evil. Giles doesn't want one of his poor, innocent noobs to have to bear it? Fine. Then let his precious Buffy do it.

Agreed. It isn't fair for Giles to ask Faith to do this, all things considered. But on the other hand, I don't know if Buffy is capable of killing someone. Sure she can do the whole brutality thing (Spike, anyone?), but when it comes down to it, I think she'd hesitate to go through with it. And let's not forget that what Giles said regarding the matter:

Quote:

Faith: "No offense, Professor Turtleneck, but I kinda doubt there's much you can teach me about the wonderful world of wetworks."

Giles: "Faith, were this a garden variety assassination, I would have used a rifle and done the deed myself."

I don't think it's an issue of wanting to dirty the innocent ones (well, not only that), I think he knows they're incapable of it.

Attempting to pull for the Scoobs on this one. For once anyway. Normally I'd be right with you, Groo.

I don't think it's that much of a big deal, slayers aren't regular humans are they? the people she killed before were weak, helpless and not evil, this girl is supernatural and using her superpowers for evil... faith should be able to see the difference there...

and of course they're real people chris, duh

Gosh, if they're not real, we're all in a lot of trouble, aren't we? Who else is going to protect the world from the vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness, if not Buffy and Faith?

Seriously, who would you rather spend more time getting worked up over: the fictional characters of "Buffy", or the real-life contestants of "Survivor" and "American Idol"? I don't know about you, but that's an easy choice for me...

SERENITYINSCOTLAND

I'm allowed back! Seriously, I've been banned from FFF.net for two months. What's going on? I just get told that my IP address is on a list of banned ones and told to contact the website manager (which, by the way, is impossible unless you can access the site).

The stuff I've missed talking about! Buffy #5, the Ripper announcement ('mon the BBC!), the special edition of Serenity. Woe is me....

Anyway, good to be back. Issue 6? Bloody brilliant. I was a little unsure about it at first, but when the action switched to Buffy and Xander I was just about ready to jump up and start chanting "Here we go!" - so good to see interplay between plotlines again (by the way, sexual tension between Buffy and Xander you could cut with a scythe). The dialogue felt like it could have been coming out of the actors mouths, Faith looked pretty much like Eliza Dushku though I felt Giles was spot on (except for the Yellow Submarine jumper...).

Not sure how I felt about Robin - looks like he and Faith are really over. Wonder who finished that? My guess is Faith, perhaps Robin was becoming a little too close. Well, not close but perhaps not letting Faith discover what she was in the new world as she would have liked - if that makes sense.

I have no problem with Giles using Faith to kill the rogue slayer for a number of reasons.
1. She is the best person for the job. She has seen that darkness herself and should know how to fight it - though it seems the rogue might not be quite as dark as Giles thinks.
2. He is willing to do it himself, but isn't able to. Ask nobody to do anything you wouldn't do yourself? Consider that box ticked.
3. It ultimately offers Faith a way out - do you think Buffy would have taken the job towards the end of season 3 to get away from the slaying life? There was some talk about that, and after all Buffy was willing to kill a rogue slayer for the greater good.
4. Most importantly, it offers Faith a chance for some redemption. No doubt she has come a long way in that quest but this is a chance to strike at something she used to be. Though I would suspect Faith's eventual act of atonement will be to help Savidge turn against her wizard buddy and step off the dark path - just as Buffy and Angel once reached out to her.

Hope I don't get banned for this.

FYI: Nick Brendon admitted to an alcohol addiction sometime after BUFFY ended. I think that had something to do with the extra pounds. He battled the addiction and appears to have won, fortunately for him, his family & friends, and of course his fans.

Just got my copy yesterday. Loved it, top to bottom. I don't know how I feel about the Faith & Robin breakup. On one hand, I never saw any chemistry between the two onscreen, but I also felt it would have been nice to see Faith make a relationship-of ANY kind-work.

The evil slayer...I didn't see why Giles didn't think they couldn't at least try to rehabilitate her first before killing her. Isn't the anti-Giles guiding her the real evil so far? Sure she went along with it, but WHY? What caused her to have such little respect for human life in the first place?

So wish the Xander scenes especially could have been performed live. It's almost a new kind of torture from Joss & Co. I mean, DAMN!!!

Finally got mine and I am extremely impressed. I was a little upset about Joss doing this Faith arc after just leaving a bunch of stuff behind in the previous one but it's good to see that the other Scoobs will be making small appearances though out of all of them I'd like to see what Willow's feelings are in all of this. Hopefully we'll be seeing little bits of all the Scoobs through this arc.

As far as Giles chosing Faith for this task, to me it makes alot of sense. Buffy obviously has her own problems and this new slayer isn't exactly average. I don't think Giles would want to trust one of the other, less-experienced slayers with such an important task, Faith really is the best choice.

And of course... Twilight shows up again!!!

Lets go to the Mall... Today!!!
