Here's my prediction for post-Angel Buffyverse Television:

James Marsters will star in a new show called "Spike." Cast will include Marsters and characters from Angel and Buffy.

It will be a new deal between Joss Whedon and Spike TV, who happen to love the name of the show. They offer Joss a deal.

And thus putting the idea of Spike on Spike in the minds of fan fiction writers everywhere.

In all seriousness, it's interesting. I'm just loathe to think of an after for Angel right now.

I hope you like Guinness, sir. I find it a refreshing substitute for . . . food.

Yaeh, "Spike" it should be. I'd love to see him get his own show but I also love ensamble shows more than others. so he should have at least 4 or 5 other Buffy/Angel characters around to share the work/fun.

let's find out who we'd all like to have there.

if I can have whomever I want, I'd want the following:

Giles, Wesley, Willow, Faith and maybe Xander

but that seems highly unlikely. ASH won't come to do a new series in the US, Alyson won't do a longtime series at all at the moment (right? and working with your man all the time might be weird too) and Eliza still does Tru Calling (right?).

so whom else to get to fill the cast?

it's so fun deciding on things you don't have a say in. maybe Joss reads it though. he'd at least know what we like to have. maybe someone can make a poll somewhere to make it easier to analyse.

I agree with the Spike concept... I actually had the same idea a while back and posted a little picture with a possible cast roster... have a look:

Plenty of potential left in Spike's character. If something like that could ever happen then I'd like to see Spike, Faith, Wesley, FredTheDemon, and the principal from the last season of Buffy (forgot his name) as main characters...maybe Andrew or Willow's Slayer girlfriend too, not sure. Could be called "Spike" or "Slayers" or somesuch. IMO it will never happen of course, but it's fun to ponder.

Am I the only person who wouldn't want a Spike TV show? I love Spike, but as a foil for other people a lovable loser. I still really love the idea of a Faith TV show, and according to my Magic 8 Ball it's gonna happen!

Other Magic 8 Ball Predictions:
Will Angel get a Season 6: You will have to wait.
Will Serenity be a box office hit: To early to tell.
Will the Spike show ever happen?: Don't bet on it.

The Magic 8 Ball has spoken!

YES! Spike and Andrew. Perhaps Dawn and Wesley. Maybe even Fred and Xander. Nick Brendon would be doubtful though. I think the original scoobies are "moving on" with their careers. I dont think we will see Buffy, Angel, Giles, Willow, Xander, Cordy, and Oz ever again. Unless they make a movie :)

i don't know; from things nick has said (i can't remember anything specific) it sounds like he'd be up for more jossverse fun.

I hope so! I think James Marsters is game too. He love playing Spike and shows no signs of getting bored with it. It seems David Boreanaz is all done though. He keeps talking about moving on.

EMBERS

Well if Joss was going to be really smart about it he would avoid having a 'title character' like Buffy or Angel...because if the actor gets sick of it (or hard to work with) then they can't be replaced...
He needs a generic title something that would allow him to work with Spike, Andrew, Dawn, Xander, Giles, Willow, Wesley, Gunn, and anyone else who might be available (I hear 'Tru Calling' was picked up after all?)...
Of course he can't very well name in 'Sundale' !

But in his radio interview a week or so ago Joss certainly made it sound like serious talks were going on for something...a spin-off, mini-series, or a couple of made-for-TV-movies or SOMETHING that would allow for future stories to be told (I just have my fingers crossed that it will happen!).

How can you say that!? Spike could have been the best, most kickass season big-bad for Buffy in William T. Bloody mode. I think the only reason he wasn't was that he was recognised as a character they couldn't get rid of so they had to have someway of avoiding Buffy killing him. Sadly that meant this constant gradual watering down from being touted as the second most evil vamp ever to the soulful pussy of Buffy7 and whatever the hell he's supposed to be in Angel5.
If a Spike solo show was ever comisioned it'd have to be a significantly different format than I've ever seen on TV. Maybe a sort of 'Tales of the Slayers' arrangement looking back through history with a different hero each week going up against Spike as the big bad he always was.

ANGELDOVE

Of course, as "Angel" is ending this year, Marsters might be available for another series, and apparently it's something he's thinking about.

Quote:

Greenwalt, saying [of JM], "He's really good. He's really gifted. He's an actor's actor. He sinks so deep into the stuff. It makes him a good guy, a good human. He's working hard on his stuff. Just watching him inspired me to two series ideas."
"We started talking about ideas that would be interesting for a series," Marsters says. "In about three days, we came up with something that was really fairly interesting. I don't know if it would fly, but it was just wonderful to feel the interest. Also, there were a couple of phone calls where I had a bunch of ideas the night before -- some of which he hated and some of which he really liked -- that we were talking about. It was wonderful to be in that kind of collaboration."

From this interview I know JM would be interested in reprising his role. I think that the only way that another installment of the Buffyverse would be created is if it was a beyond perfect idea. There is a lot to lose bringing a failed series into it. It would be a great disapointment. But I have no doubt that Joss would never let anything but the best come into his special vampire universe. My only concern would be what network would pick it up? It just seems so difficult to bring genre television into existence let alone hope it will reach fuition.

Oh, my character choices would be:

Spike (Of course!)
Ilyria
Gunn
Wesley
Faith (Has Tru Calling even been picked up for an additional season?)
Willow
Oz
Lindsey

Even if some of the characters only played partial season recurring guest roles (kind of like Darla in seasons 2 & 3) I would find it very interesting. I would also like to see David and Sarah come by for special guest appearances as well as Dru and Giles (wouldn't it be cool to see Giles perhaps reverting to Ripper, he could do that whole scruffy Wes thing that proved so sexy). From what I have read, Joss was considering Willow and Oz for season six minor episodic appearances, but who knows what the future will hold. I don't see a likelihood for a feature film, and am wary of getting my hopes up for a TV movie. So a spin-off show may be the only hope we have of seeing these characters again.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the road less traveled by and they CANCELLED MY FRIKKIN' SHOW. I totally shoulda took the road that had all those people on it. Damn." --Joss
