Likes to mess with stuffs.

Buffy isn't Buffy without Joss, so I'm calling Kuzui's Buffy, Kuffy.

Here's something from the Ausiello Files over at EW.

Quote:

In an explosive Q&A conducted over e-mail, Whedon weighed in for the first time about the sure-to-be-hellacious Buffy reboot. What follows is a complete transcript of that interview...

What do you think about this Buffy movie they're making without you?

JOSS WHEDON: I hope it's cool.

That's got to be the shortest Joss interview in history. I guess there ARE some things that can leave him speechless!

Why is it that I read this as less than a ringing endorsement? When I read it, in my head I heard it said in a snarky tone. Maybe that's just me...

Yeah, it's very short for Joss. From that I gathered...he sincerely does hope it's cool, because he surely doesn't appreciate what they're doing, and is worried what it'll do to HIS world.

A remake......of Buffy.......typical Hollywood Bullsh&*+#@%$ Thinking (actually, that's an oxymoron).

The brilliant thinkers (oxy-ya'know-what) in La-La Land are only trying to squeeze out more money from a luke-warm original film. The Kristy Swanson Buffy is no where near as shiny as the Sarah Michelle Gellar Buffy. Still why can't we have original thought? Why do we (the movie fans) have to be subjected to yet another lame attempt by the play-it-safe union?

Okay......then there's the remake aspect: Let's see we had a comic version (the movie) and the dramedy TV series with our beloved Sarah Michelle. What could they remake it as?
I personally look at the movie as a kind of Big Foot or Yeti; it might bear the same name but they are miles apart in every way (except of course the basic premise - high school chick as a kick-ass vampire slayer). With better direction the movie could have been a cult classic, but it's only reached that status due to the success of the TV series.

Leave well enough alone you bloodsucking soulless sons of your mothers that worship at the altar of the creatively challenged and mediocre.

Here's an idea: put your money into something that people may actually want to watch - Serenity 2 anyone? Just a thought........oh, wait look who I'm talking to.

In these economic times H-wood's balls shrink to the size of peas when it comes to venturing out and challenging themselves and the audience. They never really wanted to make the original Star Wars, but now they probably wish they had secured the rights.

Oh, if only I could rule the world for five minutes.

I love the irony of somone complaining about originality, then asking for a sequel.

Well, you CAN have a sequel that has some originality. They're not mutually exclusive. There are sequels that I like better than the originals (and most viewers seem to like Empire Strikes Back better than A New Hope, and Wrath Of Kahn better than Star Trek: The Motion Picture).

So I don't find it THAT ironic...

Now, granted, you can also have a remake or a "reboot" that improves on the original, but I'd say that's pretty rare...

My point was the fickle nature of fans, and their single-mindedness. People complain about sequels about as much as remakes. But if it's a sequel they want, well, it's all good.

But this is the nature of the business. If something is shown to connect with an audience, it will be revisited. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.

But it's too early to judge anything yet. Everything is just hyperbole.

Exactly. Both movies are great examples.

Again, to the point. Rare indeed to get that special gem. The only one that comes to mind at the moment is Scorcese's "The Departed" (one of the best movies I've seen in the last 10 years) which was a remake of "Infernal Affairs." But in both sequels and remakes the gems are on the short list.

My pimping for a Serenity sequel is purely based upon my certainty that, with Joss at the helm, chances are he'll add his film to that short list.
Is it possible that Joss could totally drop the ball on BDM2? Of course. But his track record speaks for itself, so my money would be on him.

Why don't they put their money into something worthwhile? Oh yeah, like maybe funding Joss's continuation of Firefly....
