Just ran across this bit of shocking news over on the Buffy Online website:

http://www.slayerverse.de/tanet/net_buffy_us/?navi=news.php&id=9171

I figured I'd post this here, because there was a post a while back about someone just discovering the band. This really sucks, I was looking forward to their second album.

At the Moonlight Rising Con he said that he had received funding to make a movie of MacBeth, one of his all time passions. I would guess that is the movie he's talking about.

I saw Ghost of the Robot play at DragonCon 2003, their demise is no loss to the music world. They were mediocre at best.

I'd hate to say that but I would have to agree with fireflygal here.

I liked some of the music but the music world will probably not morn this band too much. I doubt there are many fans of Ghost of the Robot that are not really just James Marsters fans.

on the other hand Anthony Head does really good on the music front. he has an excellent voice and an interesting style. there's not much promotion (as far as I know that's the way he wants it) for his album "Music for Elevators" but it is a good album, even if you don't know the actor.

of course music is to a great degree subject to personal taste but "Ghost of the Robot" is even if you like the music not great quality wise. but I've never seen them live, just listened a few times to the album and some live tapes. you kinda get used to it on multiple hearings but on the first run you kinda ask yourself if this was a band performing their first gig in a cheap bar recorded by a tape recorder. but maybe it's the intended style here. sounds a bit off key too now and again. sometimes weird but somehow charming in it's own right. don't know how to describe it.

and I mean no disrespect to the band here. they are probably doing it for fun and that they seem to have and give their fans.

Yeah Idefix I agree too.

I quite liked German Jewish and thought they were pretty good live at the Garage in the UK. However they were not the best band in the world to say the least.

I know when I heard the news the first thought in my head was 'thank joss it's not Common Rotation or anyone splitting up'.

I have to say I've discovered some great bands through Buffy though. From Common Rotation, to Kane to Tony Head to Four Star Mary. They're all really different and unlike Ghost of the Robot are bands that I'd listen to even if they didn't have any connection to Buffy.

I really recommend anyone who hasn't heard Common Rotation check them out ( http://www.commonrotation.com/). Four Star Mary have to be seen live for the full experience but I love Stars come down on the Welcome Home album. Music for Elevators is great although very different from what I'd usually listen to. Kane are Christian Kane's fantastic country/rock band. Has anyone seen them live? I really wish they'd play a gig in the Uk that's not at a con.

I'm happy he's getting to make the movie he wanted. . . . but unlike the oppinions expressed here, I really genuinely liked GotR.

I insisted on getting the CD, being a James fan. I thought I would get it, simply because I was curious and anything James was interesting enough to check out. I didn't know what to expect, but I wasn't certain if I would like it as an item seperate from its lead singer's acting career.

I did.

But, then again, I suppose it makes little difference. I liked their CD and listen to it often, having most of the lyrics memorized so I can sing along. My friends and I will mourn the loss alone, apparently (or, at least, with diminished numbers of peers).

I love Anthony Stewart Head's CD with a passion. Some of the songs hit really close to home, and they make me cry (which is hard to do). Unfortunately, he isn't planning on another CD, from what I heard. He supposedly thinks that actors should be actors and singers should be singers.

Wait. . . . what does that make me and other musical theatre actors?
