I didn't follow Buffy too closely, especially in the early seasons, so I was curious as to how I can find what happened to Seth Green's character. He became a warewolf, right ? He and Willow were an item, and she later 'discovered' she was a lesbian...her partner died, and she got all dark, cynical and far less fun to be around. I think I've got the basics down, but I'd like to catch up to speed.

For a second there, I thought you were talking about that one show on Showtime. Weird.

Oz left, babe. He kinda sorta but not really started sniffing around this other girl, but only because she was a werewolf too. He was quite faithful to Willow, of course, but the girl was a little TOO into him, so of course they fight, and then "wolf-out" and then... yeah, walking in on your boyfriend when he's naked with some girl never ends well.

That same episode, I do believe Oz-the-Wolf kills said evil girl, cuz she actually IS evil, and gets off on turning into a wolf and wreaking havoc. Naughty thing.

Oz feels just terrible for not being able to control what he is, so he leaves... he's never a regular cast member again, though he does drop in for one ep during Season Four... only to find, uh, Willow is seeing "someone."

Conversely........ rumor has it he drove to L.A. and hooked up with Dr. Evil. Who ya gonna believe?

Well, since I posted this in the 'Buffy' seciton, and figured folks would know 'Oz' by character, I figured it was kosher. Didn't mean to confuse that w/ the prison show. ( Wasn't that on HBO ? - oh well, I never saw it )

So, basically did Seth's character get written out as his star power was on the rise ? Seems to me that's how it worked. I was watching a Buffy rerun today ( when Buffy/Dawn's mom died ) and for some reason i had to find out about an old character.

Thanks

I think he wanted to leave.

He actually appears in 2 S4 eps after he leaves - New Moon Rising and Restless.

When Oz came back to try and get back tgether with Willow it was because he had managed to learn how to control the Werewolf in him.

However, through finding that Willow and Tara were an item he discovered that he couldn't control it while around Willow, so he had to take off again.

I think Joss has always wanted to bring Oz back into the mix again, but Seth has been working so regularly that it just never worked out...

but, you know it worked out for Seth to be on 'That 70s Show' which kind of made me all the more disappointed for Buffy. sigh

ANYWAY, if you love Oz and want to spend some time with him...and why he left, and how he learned to control his werewolvie-ish-ness, then I highly recommend the book written by Christopher Golden.

I'm not the hugest fan of CG, but I loved the book he wrote about Oz!

Cool. Having missed all of that, it always kinda bugged me that his departure was so abrupt. I kinda figured some of it had to do w/ his stock having gone up, but I didn't have anything on which to base that view.

Nah, nah, it's kosher, I got it, I was just trying to be funny, was all. Just not successfully.

To hear about it after the fact, it DOES seem abrupt for Oz to leave, but watching it happen over a few episodes, it's all the more shocking. He KILLED a girl (albeit an evil werewolf girl) and was clearly not cool with it. It's not quite as shocking as when Ms. Callender died in Season 2, or when Tara or Buffy's Mom die... but hey, there's a fight against evil going on. Not everyone is going to survive. (including Xander's eyeball)

I think you hit the nail on the head there.

I think Joss always had the idea to write Oz out as a regular by the end of season 4. However, it was originally going to be longer and more drawn out, over a number of episodes, until around mid-to-late season 4, it came to a head and he left.

But then Seth had to go early, so they kind of compacted it into...what was it, 3 or 4 episodes?

Simon: You...you came for us.
Mal: You're on my crew.
Simon: Right. I guess I just didn't...you don't even like me.
Mal: You're on my crew. Why we still talking about this?

In a recent Empire article in which he answered reader emails, Seth said he left because the schedule was becoming too much for him and diminishing the fun.
