I'd have to rewatch it. One major problem is Angel turning up to help Buffy deal with a pretty run-of-the-mill threat, when it was intimated on Angel that she was in serious trouble.

I'll grant you that one. It came off as just an excuse to get Angel there and then to give buffy an excuse to run to LA for that great cross over ep.
