I was listening to the commentary on "Lies My Parents Told Me" from Season 7 yesterday, and writer Drew Goddard mentions that Spike's (well, in this case, William) mother's name is the same as Buffy's middle name: Anne.

He said her name isn't mentioned in the credits or during the episode, and that he wanted there to be a parallel between the women in Spike's life.
