I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

I frequent another board as much as I visit here, it is the Child Neurology Bulletin Board hosted by Mass General Hospital. Most of the subject children are severely compromised, some of them die. Two little girls inherited a metabolic disorder from their mom. The first was allowed to pass before her time, and mom fought for the second one tooth and nail through complete neurological regression, total parenteral nutrition, and countless line infections. The child, amazingly, still responded to a loving touch and her mom's voice, even on her last day.

This is what mom posted....

I can't believe it has really been that long since Morgan was last in my arms, took her last breath and I gave her last kiss.

I still struggle at times with understanding it all....it feels so empty. I found this poem...it has now become something I live by daily.

Give What's Left Of Me Away

Now that I am gone remember me with a smile and laughter and if you need to - cry for your brother and sister who walk in grief beside you. And when you need me, put your arms around anyone and give to them what you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something…something bigger than words or sounds, Look for me in the people I've known or loved or helped in some special way.

Let me live in your eyes as well as your mind. You can love me most by letting love live within the circle of your arms, embracing the frightened ones.

Love doesn't die, people do, so when all that's left of me is love, give me away as best you can.
I'll see you at home where I'll be waiting.

Sharon...mommy to Morgan (2/14/92 - 12/14/04) and Lauren (10/6/93 - 3/5/98) who left us here on earth to be free in heaven. Both girls suffered from a severe form of mitochondrial disease. Their spirits live on...their sweet smiles forever in my mind, their love forever in my heart.

I ran across this while I was cleaning out my email. I know this is a very political season, but in the end, it's people that count.

Reality sucks. Especially when it contradicts our cherished ideas.
