Likes to mess with stuffs.

Why am I not surprise? As expected, having 'Dollhouse' out of sight for a week, having the dead man walking 'Prison Break' as a lead-in, and having a ho-hum standalone episode that deflated a viewership who were expecting a continuation of the previous trio of strong episodes did very serious damage to the series.

In hindsight, Joss and FOX should have not skipped the week, should have instead aired two original episodes back to back, episodes that should have continued with the overall story arc that culminate up to the season finale.

Regardless, what is done is done, and it's rather depressing. Here is what TVBYTHENUMBERS had to say.

Quote:

Dollhouse averaged a series low 2.99 million viewers, but I’m not sure yet how it performed in the demo. We do know however that FOX averaged a 1.1 among 18-49s between 8pm-10pm so its fair to guess that neither Prison Break or Dollhouse did better than a 1.2. What does this mean? Well, Prison Break was already definitely not coming back. Dollhouse looked like it was certainly not coming back either but maybe, possibly, if the ratings went up, even a little…But they did not.

Here's a rundown of the rating numbers for the entire series.

Ghost - 4.7 million.
The Target - 4.22 million.
Stage Fright - 4.13 million.
Gray Hour - 3.5 million.
True Believer - 4.33 million.
Man on the Street - 4.13 million.
Echoes - 3.87 million.
Needs - 3.49 million.
Spy in the House of Love - 3.56 million.
Haunted - 2.99 million.

Haken with respect, the world of television viewership has changed dramatically in just the past year.

There are 2 options now that in the days of Firefly were unheard of. Some people wait for a complete season to be released on Blu-Ray, or dvd to watch a show without the week to week wait...uninterrupted.
It used to be that people didn't know if a series would even make it to dvd. Now, about 95% of all network shows get a season dvd release.(Didn't DRIVE even get a dvd release?)

Computer viewings of shows are way, way up. NBC is is dire straits because so many people watch a show from their site instead it's time slot on the network.

I'm sure Hulu is getting a lot of Dollhouse traffic.

I wouldn't be surprised If FOX surprises us with a renewal for a second season.
