So far the current source of Actives in the Dollhouse are people who "volunteer" for a five year term in order to get a bunch of money. This seemed to be the case with Caroline (Echo), that guy from the college, and Mellie (November), who seemed very comfortable with the arrangement when she was "released" (can you really trust that was a real?). But Boyd brought up a good point, we're only told they volunteered, we no real proof.

Also, we can pretty much agree that what is done to them is wrong. They are essentially raped in mind and body. But what if the dolls weren't volunteers? What if they were actually grown clones made with no higher brain functions and then imprinted. Would this be more acceptable? Could we turn the human body into nothing more than a product that we can mold, use and sell?

Either way, I think it is wrong, but what do you think?

Clones have the potential to grow into a fully functional human, albeit a different one from the original, and, if force grown in a laboratory environment, most likely stunted both emotionally and in maturity. If not force grown, then twenty-ish years to reach usable potential, and still likely stunted.

It'd be like doing these same things, mind rape and body rape, to a child, or an infant, who are unable to give their consent.

I guess I was trying to get at a clone that was force grown and brain dead. One that had no personality of any kind.

If brain dead, doesn't that suggest a non-functioning brain? Would the memory transplants even work?

That's one of the questions I guess. Could you use the chair to implant a person into a brain dead body? I don't know exactly how it functions. They compare it to a hardrive in the show. Then is the brain just hardware and the mind just software that can be absent or overwritten?

If the chair could be used for that purpose, where does it end? What if a coma patient could be transplanted into a new body? What if some obese billionaire wanted to be be a ripped athlete, would it be ok for him to just grow a body made to order? Where does it end?
