Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Does anyone really need more than just this to realize we're screwing up the environment and it'll get to the point of no return eventually? Screw Al Gore; global warming or no global warming, there's more to be worried about that is OBVIOUS:

I can't find the video, I think it was part of the "100 Heartbeats" thing he just did, but we don't need him to tell us about it:

Given the Gyre is just West of us in CA, I think about it often. Instead of railing about Gore and politics, might be an interesting break to discuss this...?

Freedom is Important because People are Important

"Screw Al Gore; global warming or no global warming, there's more to be worried about that is OBVIOUS:"

Hello,

I have always felt that selling people on Global Warming was a bad road to follow. It's too distant, too intangible, too not-right-now.

You sell people on the right now. You sell them on the wallet. You sell them on freedom.

Renewable energy means you aren't controlled by foreigners, and you don't risk energy price spikes.

Fuel Efficient or alternative fuel cars means you pay next to nothing for getting around town.

Recycling and waste control means you're not eating, breathing, and drinking proverbial shit.

Conservation means you get to hunt forever, you get to eat your favorite foods forever, you get to cut down trees forever, and you get to take family trips to the wilderness forever.

There's just so many good reasons to do everything that have zero to do with 'saving the planet' or some other ambiguous fairy tale nonsense- that even if true- is hard to get people riled up about in their daily lives.

Global warming may very well be a fact of life, but that's not why I dream of owning an electric car. And it's not why I hope to someday cover my roof with solar panels.
