Likes to mess with stuffs.

From IO9:

Friday night's episode of Caprica, "There Is Another Sky," moved the already-intriguing show to the status of must-watch. It was simply one of the best SF representations of futuristic videogames and internet culture that I've ever seen.

I'm inclined to agree.

While I wasn't super pumped to watch, I figured it was worth a shot. It's so NOT BSG, ( yet ) and I really enjoy watching the development of the back story.

While on one level, it's risky to delve back in time to recreate a entire separate culture and civilization, or several cultures, they've pulled it off w/ out too many hitches. Sure, some may say they've taken the easy way out, and just mimicked some well recognizable stereo types of our own 'verse, but hell, it's no worse than what Lucas did, and with a whole lot more $$

Bones: "Don't 'rawr' her!"
Booth: "What? she'rawred' me first."

STORYMARK

Scifi is often at it's best when exploring our world through a slightly altering prism.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

I am with you all the way on this one Haken. The latest ep just rocked big time, blowing away anything CSI, BSG or SG-1 has to offer. The needle on my Geek factor meter was buried in the red. The eps before this one were interesting but "Another Sky" had the Whedon touch if not in style, then in set-up and delivery.

I am super jazzed to see the next ep.

The nice thing about Caprica is that is doing a good job of showing us where the people in BSG came from (before the trauma of the robot rebellion and, it appears, something shift in attitude towards technology).

It's one thing to show folks in 'life boat' scenarios, as part of a refugee fleet in space, but to try to recreate an entire new 'verse ? I like how Caprica incorporates some things which we can relate, to customs and cultures completely new to the audience.

Lovin' Caprica.
Knowing nothing a-tall about BSG.
Having to get it from hulu, so a little behind the curve at times.
Loved "I'm awake."
