Some of us may remember this:
Quote:

At a Tea Party rally in Asotin, WA, one of the Tea Party speakers had this to say about Senator Patty Murray.

Quote:

“How many of you have watched the movie Lonesome Dove?,” asked one speaker from the podium. “What happened to Jake when he ran with the wrong crowd? What happened to Jake when he ran with the wrong crowd. He got hung. And that’s what I want to do with Patty Murray.”

That's the kind of rhetoric that's been floating around by the Repubs and Tea Partiers. On this site, it's been dismissed as the kind of thing Libs did to Dumbya, the violence has been dismissed as either made up or done by a Democratic "plant" or something.

But now I dare you to say the rhetoric isn't encouraging thoughts of violence among the crowds:
Quote:

A Washington State man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he repeatedly threatened to kill US Sen. Patty Murray because of her support of the recently passed healthcare reform law.

Charles Alan Wilson of Selah, Wash., left at least 13 expletive-laced messages on an answering machine at Senator Murray’s Seattle office in recent weeks.
Quote:

Among them: "Baby killer Murray, I hope somebody gets through your security and blows your fucking brains out, you fucking baby killing fucking bitch." "I hope somebody puts a fucking bullet through your fucking eyes" "I want to fucking kill you" "I do believe that every one of you fucking socialist democratic progressives fucking need to be taken out"
Staffers notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Although the caller had been blocking his telephone number, an agent traced the calls through telephone company records to Mr. Wilson’s home telephone.

An undercover agent then telephoned Wilson, posing as a political opponent of the healthcare law. Wilson used several of the same phrases recorded on the answering machine, and agents concluded both voices belonged to the same person.

'There's a target on your back now'“I hope you realize there’s a target on your back now,” Wilson told Murray in a message recorded on the morning of March 22, according to an FBI affidavit. “There are many people out there that want you dead. Just remember that as you are politicing [sic] for your reelection. It only takes one piece of lead… Kill the … senator! Kill the … senator! I’ll donate the lead. Now that you’ve passed your healthcare bill, let the violence begin.”

The next day, Wilson called again – five times. “I hope somebody kills you, and I hope somebody kills [the president],” he said. “You are signing my death warrant, so I want to sign yours.”

The case illustrates the dangerous and sordid underbelly of the current angry mood in the country. And it underscores the risk that can arise from supercharged rhetoric used by some leaders that seems designed to feed the anger.

“Free speech is the cornerstone of our democratic process, and we are a country of vigorous debate,” said Assistant US Attorney Todd Greenberg. “However, threats of violence have no place in that debate. The threats here crossed the line and violate the law.”

According to a 10-page FBI affidavit, Wilson said the senator would be a target for the rest of her life.

Undercover FBI agent recorded detailed threats “By your attempts to overtake this country with socialism, somebody’s gonna get to you one way or another and blow your … brains out, and I hope it does happen. If I have the chance, I would do it.”

Wilson added: “You low-life, backstabbing, lying, cheating politicians are going to be held accountable. And hopefully it is with your life.”

“There are a lot more of us. There are a lot of crazy people out there, and your security [guards] may stay with you for a long time, but somebody will get through,” he warned.

Wilson even recorded a message on Easter Sunday. He noted that the senator had given a speech recently in Yakima. “We were outside waiting for you,” Wilson said in the message.

During his conversation with the undercover FBI agent, Wilson admitted that he carries a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver. He said he will not “blink” when confronted. “It’s not a threat, it’s a guarantee.”

“I will take no prisoners,” he said. “And I don’t care what they think. They want to come throw me in jail, they can go ahead and do that. That’s fine.” It was a pretty good prediction. That’s exactly what happened Tuesday.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20100407/ts_csm/292965_1 caller to U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s office warned that if the congressman voted for the health care bill, he would get “a bullet to the head.”

A different man called fellow Democratic U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore four days before Sunday’s historic vote and warned that if Moore voted “yes,” the caller would drive to Moore’s house, park outside and cause unspecified problems.

“Maybe the guy was just being rude,” Moore said. “You just never know.”

The threats to the two Kansas City-area congressmen were among the more than 10 reported to House leaders in connection with Sunday’s health care vote.

Rotert said the Kansas City FBI office has investigated the death threat made against Cleaver and traced it to an Independence businessman through the use of caller identification on the congressman’s Kansas City office phone.

That wasn’t the only sign of violence directed at Cleaver. Rotert said a man broke a window at Cleaver’s congressional office near 31st Street and Broadway about two weeks ago.

“Police said there was no intent to rob because the hole was so small,” Rotert said.

But Rotert said all the activity, both locally and nationally, has caused the congressman to hire private security at his own expense for his Kansas City home while he’s away.

“Because of the visibility of the house and because people know where it’s at, it’d be easy to drive by … and do something stupid,” Rotert said.

Rotert said Cleaver’s office had received a dramatic rise in what Rotert called “violent” phone calls.

A 27-year-old in Texas was arrested who declared that he intended to use deadly force to stop abortions from being provided at a specific, named clinic in Dallas Texas that provides abortions. He made the threat in a court filing in hopes of getting the Supreme Court to stop abortions. It said "I will try to stop abortion using oral words, and if words are not enough, I will use physical force if necessary, and if anyone tries to physically stop me, I will overcome that force, and if I must use deadly force to defend the innocent life of another human being, I will." He then stated he was headed to that clinic in Dallas. He was arrested.
Armed gun-rights advocates are staging gun rallies around the country colliding with what they say they wish could be an armed march on Washington on April 19th (anniversary of Waco, start of the American Revolution and Oklahoma City bombing). There will be an armed group marching on that day in Virginia, just across the Patomic from Washington DC, as close as they can get with loaded weapons. Simultaneously, on the grounds of the Washington Monument, there will be the Second Amendment March. As a lead-up to this, the Second Amendment March group is holding an armed march in Virginia, at the state capitol.

They're going after Republicans as well:
Quote:

A Philadelphia man charged with threatening the No. 2 Republican in the House was ordered held without bail Monday pending a mental evaluation after authorities said he tried to post an Internet video that also called the congressman the devil.

Norman Leboon, 38, made a video last week that threatened Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, according a sworn statement. In the video, Leboon called Cantor "pure evil" and made threatening statements about Cantor's wife, authorities said.

He also called the congressman "Lucifer" and goes on to say, "Remember Eric...our judgment time, the final Yom Kippur has been given," authorities said.

Of course, these are just a few nuts, right? And armed marches on Washington would have been freely allowed under Dumbya or any other President, right? And the rhetoric by MAINSTREAM POLITICAL LEADERS in our government isn't contributing to it, right?

Waiting for the denials and excuses, because they're sure to come...

Don't forget the dangerous teachers unions.

Quote:

HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie isn't laughing about a teachers union's memo that jokes about his death.

The memo is the latest salvo in a war of words between Christie and the union over wage and benefits concessions.

The Record of Bergen County obtained the Bergen County Education Association memo. It includes a closing prayer that reads:

"Dear Lord this year you have taken away my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Farrah Fawcett, my favorite singer, Michael Jackson, and my favorite salesman, Billy Mays. I just wanted to let you know that Chris Christie is my favorite governor."

Association president Joe Coppola says it was a joke and was never meant to be made public.

Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak calls it unprofessional.

I don't know that because a bunch of whack jobs belong to a certain party, that the party should be blamed for "encouraging" violence.

One speaker does not a party make.

However, I share your concern. The party needs to nip any violent rhetoric in the bud by apologizing for any such remarks made by invited speakers. No party should condone this kind of language.

It's like the ROE in Iraq. Relaxing those standards feeds the dehumanization of the "enemy" whoever they may be.

You must be joking: ONE speaker? Can't even count on both hands the number of Congressmen, Senators, Governors and other political figures (let's not forget Sarahcuda) who have used buzz words and phrases which clearly encourage the nutwings listening to them to think of doing violence.

And it's not the Dems. Please give me examples of violent rhetoric on the left...of anything LIKE the spoutings on the right about stringing people up, arming their state, someone not being able to go home because he'd be a "dead man", and on and on. I challenge you to prove your point with solid examples.
