Hello,

There are probably some liberals on this board who believe in taxing people to pay for other people's well-being. Things like Universal Health Care, and Unemployment. Things that require the theft of income from millions of working Americans to pay for slovenly unemployed persons who want something for nothing. "Oh, no," the liberals might say, "someone might starve or die of disease." Then, after they wipe their tears away, they may add, "so let's steal from the rich and give to the poor. It's the heroic thing to do, like Robin Hood."

Listen, liberals. You have no concept of Liberty. Freedom isn't something you get to pick and choose. You can't say in one breath, "Let's let the Homos marry" and then in the next breath, "Let's take people's money and give it away to whoever we want." You have to honor everyone's freedom, or no one's freedom. We all hate to see poor people, ESPECIALLY when they are sick, but that's the price of freedom. You just have to step over them or around them and move on. Try not to breathe their air, btw. Some of that shit's contagious.

Freedom Without Compromise. That's the American Way.

I'll post some videos explaining this concept later. Probably a dozen or so. I think something from Ron Paul would be nice.

Meanwhile, I'd like to address another topic.

This Community Center thing... I think when the majority of locals are against something, it should be honored. Don't get me wrong, I feel strongly about property rights. And I understand we can't legislate good behavior and wisdom. People are free to do dumb shit. Just the same, I think we should control who can buy property or build on it in this case. If the majority of locals are against this thing, we should tell the old property owners that they can't sell the property. We should also make sure the new property owners can't do what they want with it.

Okay, sorry for that tangent.

Where was I?

Oh yeah. Freedom Without Compromise. If you Compromise on Freedom, you're just a dipshit Liberal Hypocrite.

Anthony, the problem is, for me at least, that you so often make good points, you are so civil in doing so, so serious usually in making your points, and you so seldom (so far!) "play" with what I would call "satire" or "irony", that when you do, I have to read your post carefully, and sometimes re-read it, to see the facetiousness. Mincing is consistent, it's easier to catch.

That just means you're getting REALLY good at it.

He was satirizing, RL, he did a "GOTCHA" on you. Don't feel bad, he's gotten me at least twice that I can think of, in one THREAD!

Some of what you posted seemed consistent with your own beliefs (minimal government interference) and some didn't (your property discussion favoring majority vote, even if it violates the principles of the constitution), though, so I don't know what to make of this...

I think the same psychological quality which makes me a 'special' brand of Christian also makes me a 'special' brand of Libertarian.

I try very hard to see exactly how full of B.S. I am, which helps me to see other people more clearly. I also try to see both the flaws and merits of my chosen belief system (be it Political or Religious) rather than pretend that my philosophy is a flawless jewel.

Some people have wondered, mouth agape in disbelief, that a Libertarian like me could have voted for a 'socialist' like Obama. Don't I understand the nature of Freedom? Taxation is theft. Public services are funded by theft. They violate the basic Premise of Freedom, which is that each individual is entitled to do what they wish with themselves and the product of their labor.

The idea that a person can be skeptical of something like Universal Medicine and still be tempted by the allure of tending to the sick and impovrished of our nation is alien to most of my Libertarian bretheren. (And most Conservatives as well.) These same people who are baffled by my dual nature will gladly tell a Muslim where he can build his whatever- never realizing they are being hypocritical.

I know exactly how full of crap I am, (or I try to. My wife is always pointing out something to help me out. ;-)) But other people don't see this about themselves.

Liberals will steal from people and never be shaken by the sobering reality of it. Conservatives will deny people the right to do what they want with themselves and never understand that they are enslaving someone by forcing them to live THEIR way.

Libertarians will advocate and end to all taxation and social programs without stopping to consider that those policies, if enacted, may result in mass suffering, death, and potential national collapse.

Every philosophy has both a knife and a shield, but every philosopher seems to think he is only carrying the shield.

The sum total of all my beliefs make me more Libertarian than anything else, but I refuse to be boxed in. "You can't be a Libertarian unless you adhere to everything we believe exactly as we believe it." Hogwash. No one is the Avatar of an idea. We are human beings. We are all on the Human Team. Calling myself Libertarian is designed to help you understand me better, it is NOT designed to swear my undying fealty to a narrow way of doing things.

So, yes. I like Ron Paul. I'm suspicious of Taxation. I know that Taxing people is stealing their money to do things they may not approve of.

I'm also against letting people starve or die of easily preventable diseases. I realize the two beliefs come into conflict.

I'm also against fear and hatred as a compass to action. I don't care how scary Muslims are, or whether one out of every four Muslims wants to blow me up with a pack of C-6. They still get their freedoms for as long as this is America.

And while I say that, I must admit that I am a biased, bigoted, racist, ethnicist jerk who does get nervous whenever I see a Muslim who looks agitated on a plane. I do get nervous when I'm walking in the bad side of town and a bunch of young kids - maybe Black, maybe Hispanic (like me) wearing 'gang clothes' walks in my direction. I know exactly how full of crap I am, and how far I still have to go.

But I want to get there. Knowing I will never get there, I want to keep moving in the 'right direction' as best as I can find it.

I am pretending to be good until I can make it so.
