Ummm, In hoping for a rational discussion based on fact here, I'll probably be disappointed, but oh well.

This was a symposium, an introduction to new tech ideas from the manufacturer...as in....this tech is NOT currently in use.

Now, I actually agree that this kind of thing is terrifying...the idea of this kind of privacy invasion is wrong and UnAmerican.

However, tying it to Obama is simply wrong and misleading. This tech is NOT in use, and will not be any time soon, even if the LOCAL police forces interested in it buy it today...it would still take significant time for something this all-encompasing to be implemented...WHICH IS NOT CURRENTLY HAPPENNING, at least, according to your link.

So is it just blind hatred of Obama that motivates these posts? I just strive to understand what makes thought and logic fly away from the tea baggers and righties when they start spouting on Obama.

I have a quick question for you....Which president had the highest tax rate during his tenure?....Reagan, Clinton, or Obama?

I am very curious what you guys answer to that one.

While public sector technology *is* catching up, due to open source development and a certain lack of imagination and creativity amongst the government goons, only in the past five, six years has there been any parity between what is publicly available and what the black baggers have had mostly all along (main core was actually built in the early 80's, people).

And up till now, most "civilians" didn't understand enough about these techs to realize how compromised they are, and most companies played right along, hard coding backdoors into the hardware/software, a practice which has only just now run afoul of refusals to play ball any more, and now a legal fight because they want the damn things mandated...

And of course, when they get used (as they have been for years, another dirty little secret) by scammers and hackers, it'll be the customer taking the blame, and the DMCA outlaws fixing the built-in-exploits.

That's like mandating that one door of all cars cannot lock, in case police need to enter your car, welding it up so you can't install a lock, and making it illegal to do so if you do find a way.... and then blaming the owners when their cars get stolen!

And you wanna trust any bloody thing any of these people, who think this kinda bullshit is a good idea, exactly why ?

I mean, you're taking the word of the very scum of the earth here, proven liars with a sixty year history of it, who's job is pretty much telling lies.

Honestly Frem, I dont believe about 98% of everything I read from everywhere. The vast majority of media sources (tv, internet, whatever) tend to prioiritize accuracy about 5th, or lower, in their goals.

My post's intent was more about refuting the absurd point that the link used to start this thread somehow proved Obama is spying on people, in some Orwellian fashion that is a new threat to everyone's liberty. Therefore i kept my arguments within the bounds of the source provided to start the discussion.

My point is mostly that it is naive to think he isn't spying, as he is the pres, and the pres is at the head of an apparatus which spies on its citizens as a matter of course, for decades.
