If anyone has ever read an actual contract of bondage from slavery, and also read either a student loan contract or a mortgage, you'll realize that the only difference is that the latter ones are longer and have fewer exit clauses. And yes, your bank can sell you mortgage or student loan, and by extension, sell you. Think about it. Educate yourself.
