DREAMTROVE

The circus is in full swing, and some folk must be posting up a storm, and others, taking a vacation. I think I crawl around for some anime. I have an important topic to post, but it would be buried in election talk, so I'll wait.

NIKI2

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

That was me, too. Everyone seemed to get sick of their crowing and disappear; when I realized there was nobody to talk to but the idiots, I did to. Had a lovely evening with a Conolly book, and some pleasant surprises this morning.

And NO MORE ROBOCALLS!!! They were hot and heavy the last two days, and pissed me off something FIERCE. Now it's over with and the phone is peaceful once more. Yah.

Hopefully now we can move on to other things. I'll do my best to put some stuff up and we can get on with our lives.

DREAMTROVE

My summation:

The republicans rallied the troops somewhat, and they probably own most of the voting machines, but the democrats completely failed to deliver.

1) There was the policy, which was terrible. They accomplished nothing worth doing, and they broke several promises.

In terms of spending, they chose
a) wars
b) bailouts

In terms of civil liberties
c) force citizens to buy private sector insurance
d) expand torture and detainment to allow indefinite detainment without cause of americans, and assassination

In terms of taxes
e) A direct tax on those who don't comply with Obamacare, a tax which is in strict violation of the 16th A.
f) A new 50% tax bracket for incomes over $250,000
g) A new self employment tax structure of 20%+base for all sole proprietorships, mom and pop shops, small businesses and independent contractors, which also amounts to around 50%

That said, they also failed to inspire. Democrats ran on a platform of pure fear:

"The Tea Party will repeal the civil rights act, bring back jim crow and make christianity the national religion" and nonsense like that.

What they didn't do is say "If you elect us, we'll do XYZ."

As a result, they lost a lot of seats.

Mostly, where strong powerful incumbents ran, they kept their seats. Political outsiders like Feingold were thrown to the curb.

Best news, Chafee won.
