Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

What FUN! Been listening to the parade on the radio when driving...they're having such FUN. I'm happy for them.

Fans crowded the sidewalks and flooded Civic Center to salute a team of self-described misfits and castoffs. The die-hards showed up before dawn to stake out spots ahead of the festivity. Many skipped work and pulled their children out of school so they could catch what they said was a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

"I want to see all the hometown heroes and share the smiles of all the fans who've been waiting their entire lives for this," said Teddy Hutcherson, 31.

I understand that last guy...Jim was a die-hard Niners fan all through their losing years. We went to the first Superbowl victory parade, which is just like what's happening right now, and there were so many that, just like Jim, had been loyal with little hope for SO long that it was like a miracle...or heaven...or whatever it is for sports fans!

Got a giggle...it's an alcohol-free event (but of course that's not stopping anyone)...one of the radio announcers mentioned it, and the reporter on the street said "yeah, but they're happily imbibing other substances..." I have no doubt...a cloude of smoke no doubt hangs over the trolleys carrying the heroes...

Haven't got crowd estimates yet, and couldn't find a photo from above showing the crowd, but I've seen videos and it's ginormous! Thousands and thousands of happy people...so kewl...

Like woman, I am a mystery.

For some reason, the thought of a team representing San Francisco beating a team from Texas and celebrating the final victory on the field of the Texas team and in front of all the Texas fans made me really happy.

But yeah, real happy for the Giants. I'd have personally preferred the Twins to win the World Series (of course) but I'm happy that it sure as hell wasn't any team from Texas.

Jim's not particularly happy, and grousing about it. He's an admin assistant at the largest garage in the area, which is right now crammed with LOUD, often drunk Giants fans.

I told him we were the same when the Niners won the Superbowl, and he snarked "No, we weren't! We were calm, well behaved and quiet!" Hee, hee, hee.

I hope they're not riding the ferry home with him today, poor baby, he'll about die!

By the way, it was an especially tasty win for our area. We have far too many loud, arrogant Texans who've moved here the past couple of decades, so tho' it's silly, it felt good on those grounds, too...
