Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

Liberal economist Paul Krugman, from his blog:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/29/opinion/29krugman.html?_r=1&partner=
rssnyt&emc=rss

Quote:

Barring a huge upset, Republicans will take control of at least one house of Congress next week. How worried should we be by that prospect?

Not very, say some pundits. After all, the last time Republicans controlled Congress while a Democrat lived in the White House was the period from the beginning of 1995 to the end of 2000. And people remember that era as a good time, a time of rapid job creation and responsible budgets. Can we hope for a similar experience now?

No, we can’t. This is going to be terrible. In fact, future historians will probably look back at the 2010 election as a catastrophe for America, one that condemned the nation to years of political chaos and economic weakness.

Hmm.

This is a good recent blog post of his as well: http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/11/03/nobody-cares-about-process/

Quote:

Nobody Cares About Process
Urk. I just gave up on the presidential press conference. When Obama declared that Americans rejected Democrats in part because “We were in such a hurry to get things done that we didn’t change how things got done,” I checked out.

Nobody cares about this stuff — they care about results. Nobody really cares about earmarks; they’re just code for spending less (less on somebody else, of course, not me). Nobody cares about civility and bipartisanship, which in practice are code for Democrats giving in to Republican demands. Nobody cares about parliamentary maneuvers: we can argue about the role of health reform in the election, but I bet not one voter in 50 knows or cares that it was passed using reconciliation (as were the sacred Bush tax cuts we must, must retain).

If Obama had used fancy footwork and 2 AM sessions to pass a big public works program, and this program had brought unemployment down, Republicans would be screaming about the process — and Democrats would have comfortably held control of Congress. Remember the voter backlash against the way Medicare drug benefits were passed? Neither do I.

Oh, by the way — nobody cares about the deficit, either

Interesting. The suggestion that Obama actually be radical. It would have been very divisive, and difficult to achieve - but may have been his only hope, if Krugman is to be believed.

It's not personal. It's just war.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Well, John Boehner was crying, but that's just because he was drunk, as usual.

The modern definition of "socialist" is anyone who's winning an argument against a tea-bagger.

America loves a winner!

Any drunk Republican can legislate more clearly than Princess Pelosi and her botox addled brain.
