Awww, poor Sarah, another Republican speaks out on her unsuitability...
Quote:

One day after she claimed victory in the nation's last unresolved Senate race, Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska reiterated Thursday that she does not support Sarah Palin as the Republican presidential nominee in 2012.

Murkowski was defeated in this year's primary by fellow Republican Joe Miller but apparently won a long shot write-in bid for the Senate seat she currently holds, finally claiming victory more than two weeks after the Nov. 2 elections. Palin, a former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate, had backed Miller.

Palin told Barbara Walters on Wednesday she could beat President Barack Obama if she was the GOP nominee in 2012.

"She is clearly setting her sights on that higher office," Murkowski said on CNN's "American Morning" program.

"I have in the past said that Sarah Palin would not be my candidate," Murkowski added, declining to name anyone she would support.

"I'm still looking to see who will emerge in the Republican field of candidates. And I think that remains to be seen."

Murkowski also reflected on her relationship with the Republican Party, which opposed her candidacy after her defeat in the August primary.

"I was not my party's nominee," she said. "I went outside the box."

But Murkowski made it clear she remains a Republican and will continue to conference with GOP senators.

Still, Murkowski said, she was elected by a coalition of Alaskans, and "it will be all Alaskans that I will be representing."

I think her election represents a real miracle of common sense over stupidity.

Then too,
Quote:

She's coming off a successful midterm election season, is on the heels of releasing a second book, and about to star in an adventure-packed reality television show, but Sarah Palin's poll numbers are going in the wrong direction.

A new survey by Gallup suggests more than half of all Americans (52 percent) now hold a negative view of the former Alaska governor, the highest unfavorable rating Palin has ever registered in the organization's polling. Her 40 percent favorable rating meanwhile ties her lowest score in Gallup history, registered in the fall of 2009 shortly after she quit her post as governor.

Palin also registered a 40 percent favorable rating in CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll conducted just before the midterm elections. According to the CNN survey, 49 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion of Palin.

The Gallup poll indicates that Palin seems to have lost her biggest chunk of support among independent voters – the voting bloc that was crucial in handing Republicans control of the House on Election Day. Her favorability among those voters has dropped 8 points since the summer, according to the poll, from 43 percent to 35 percent.

Add that to even FOX trashing her reality show/political gambit, and Mamma Grizzlie's not lookin' too good...

Oh please oh please, DO run her in 2012!!

I've seriously been thinking on why everyone on the right thinks the left "hates" Palin

I think the reason is that hate is the only tangible emotion they are capable of feeling towards the other side, so they assume we must hate her, since she is certainly a common topic of discussion, left or right.

They don't seem to get that at this point, the left is kinda happy to have Sarah around, since as the climate curretntly stands, she is probably our only hope in 2012.

A good point. Kinda like how they like to refer to Obama as the Messiah, implying that's how Dems see him - forgetting that they're the side far more prone to attaching religion to politics.

Aint projection funny?

And, as I said, ALONG WITH THE OTHER NASTY THINGS the Left has said about her.

Again, why the hate ?

Again - why can you not grasp that it's not hate?

An opinion about lousy dancing isn't hate.

Jokes about a lame TV show aren't hate.

Disrespect, sure. Derision, absolutely. Mockery - You betcha!

But hate? Nah, poor wittle Sarah isn't worth that strong of an emotion. She's a punchline. And the fact that boobs like you feel the need to draw such a false equivalence in order to defend her makes it all the funnier.

If no one wants to fess up and admit that it's hate, fine by me.

Might not be for one or two here who post on FFF.net, but the overwhelming tone of the Left is hate, straight up.

I can freely confess why I hate Al Gore, for example. But that's off topic. The worst thing Palin's done is quit, imo. Not much to crow about, but hate the gal ? Naww....she's got far more good going for her than anything. Just don't see why the reason to hate is so prevalent on the Left.

Wulf, it's not hate. It's someone who is routinely in the news who consistently makes a fool of herself. You can't ignore her, she's everywhere. She's not worth wasting hate on, trust me, she's a charicature of HERSELF. Why do you think they called that nutbag O'Donnel "Palin light"?

Yes, I think you got it right on the money, Bluehand:
Quote:

Tho' I disagree with the rest of that sentence. Nonetheless, oh, how I WISH she'd run. What fun! Thank you for helping me understand why some keep saying we hate her, which has alwys mystified me.

Excellent, too, Story:

Both of those helped explain to ME "why the 'hate'" and why they keep saying we see Obama as our "god". Thank you.

As to Bristol, and Palin too...what you don't get Wulf is that when people put themselves out there consistently in the limelight, some are bound to make fun of them if they behave like asses, it's just the way it is.

I've not heard much about Bristol in a long, long time...I did catch her on DWTS 'cuz I tuned in just before Castle, which follows it here. She's a poor dancer, in my opinion, and probably will be aced out--unless Sarah's staunch followers keep voting for her en mass (is that how she's stayed in this long?). That's not a "nasty" thing to say about Bristol, that's my opinion from watching her dance.

Just as an aside; As far as I've seen, it's Sarah Palin who goes around spouting so much hate...mostly I see others ridiculing her.

Yup, that must explain it. What I read/hear/sse about Palin is derision, sarcasm, mockery as Story said, but I hear little "hate". It's possible that, aside from being unable to imagine we can feel anything but hate--as illustrated by Raptor--it may be that Sarah herself has conned you into that one. Isn't she always calling it the "Lamestream Media" and saying everyone's picking on her? I don't hear her much anymore, but a while back that's what she was doing, proclaiming over and over that everyone (besides her followers) is being "hateful" toward her. Might that help explain it?

Thinking on it. Yes, I come as close as possible to "hating" Dick Cheney. I intensely dislike Rove, and now McCain (tho' at one time I respected him), and John Boehner. I strongly dislike THOSE IN the Tea Party who express racist, homophobic or Islamaphobic beliefs...

Ooo, ooo, ooo, I hate that pastor (or whatever he is) who was gonna burn the Korans, and apparently is still grasping for attention! There's one. I do hate the Westboro Church, fer shore! I hate terrorists--despite the fact that I can understand some of their reasons and how their mentality was warped.

But to a degree, one has to fear what one hates, doesn't one? The Florida pastor represented the worst of hatefulness against Islam, which is a dangerous thing right now. Westboro Church hurts people; I don't fear them but I abhor what they do. Terrorists engender fear. So it's reasonable to hate those--I don't "fear" either Rove or Cheney, just abhor them and what they stand for.

But I certainly don't fear Palin...she's just not worth the energy to hate, she IS a punchline for the right. May not be on Fox News much longer, the way they're talking about her (not just off camera, either).

But hate her? Nope, sorry, not worth the effort. I think too you NEED to believe we hate her; that makes her important and you can believe we fear her. That's okay, go for it.

Ooops, mea culpa to Wulf. He's so often said we hate/fear her in the past...and yes, they do "speak" so much alike on many subjects. I see looking back it's all Raptor, all the time. Afraid it's more stuck in my brain to be used to the claims Wulf keeps making that we're so afraid of her. My mistake.

And yes, rereading, I don't see a single instance where you "stood up" for her, Raptor. I keep reading "why the hate?", which of course we can't answer because there ISN'T any hate.

On the other hand: Blue, I think "assuming" is something the left and the right, and everyone else, does from time to time.

For me, it might be more accurate to say they CLAIM what we "think" or "believe" or whatever, and as you said: transference. It's also possible any of us "misread" what is written and go from there; I know I've done that.

It's not a question, therefore it can't be answered. You're asking US--ask someone who actually hates her to get an answer if you want, I'm sure there are those who do. But to keep insisting we hate her and asking why, then saying nobody will answer you, is patently absurd.

Mmmm, excellent, Chris. Both the list and your answer about hating what she represents.

Raptor, "you can go on playing this game all day" is right, YOU are the one insisting on "playing" the same "game" that you're asking a valid question.

Story says it's funny you have so much trouble accepting the reality that we don't hate her. I would say you have so much INVESTED in believing we DO hate her that you can't let go of the concept long enough to even entertain any of our answers; so you go on asking the same non-question. Something about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I guess:

You asked a question.
We said the question is invalid: we don't hate her.
You keep asking the question.
We keep answering you.
You keep saying we aren't answering it.

All it serves to do is illustrate that you can't conceive of anything outside what you yourself (need to?) believe. Who's not facing reality?

You really need to work the idea of the "Palin-drome" in there: Her ability to make an entire party think backwards!

The modern definition of "socialist" is anyone who's winning an argument against a tea-bagger.

Honestly, the other week I heard Sarah Palin was probably not going to run, and then I really did hate her. Like, 'Goddammit she's useless! She can't do anything right!'

But while there's still hope I'm her biggest fan Palin-Palin 2012!!

It's not personal. It's just war.

I'm sure Sarah Palin's tough enough to take it, she is in politics and does often bring it on herself. I kinda feel sorry for her daughter though. Apparently people think Bristol staying on dancing with the stars is the result of a tea party conspiracy and voter fraud. I think if the tea party were into voter fraud they'd have done better earlier in november. DTWS doesn't effect legislation very much.

I hate to see Brandi and Max voted off (they were my favorite) but I don't understand why all the rage gets aimed at Bristol. It's not like their aren't two other stars still dancing while Brandi is not...

Far as hatred for the Obama is concerned, I think most everyone hates the president while they are president, that's just how being in charge works.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

I hate the idea of Sarah Palin being the voice of the American People, never mind it being her hand that controls our considerable military might.

However, I find her rather quaint and charming as an individual human being, with skills and talents I actually admire. She is probably someone I'd be interested in knowing in private circles, especially as I tend to befriend people with a wide range of divergent opinions.

However, I can think of only a few friends and acquaintences of mine that I'd want to see running for office. Even were she my friend, she would not be among them.

As an important aside, I have many friends I've mocked in good-humor at one time or another, and received their ribbing in kind. I do not hate these friends. Sometimes people are just funny. Most people don't televise their funny to the world.

I suppose the left "hates" Palin about the same way the right "hates" Hillary and Pelosi.
Mike, I don’t know. From what I hear, their hatred is quite humorless and distinctly nasty. I think they DO hate them, maybe without realizing that they’re easy targets set UP for them to hate as much as anything. And let’s not forget the hatefulness expressed by so many of the right, every day, toward Obama; you’re right, Magons.

The only problem with that is if we asked “Why do you hate Pelosi/Hillary/Obama”, they DO hate them and could come up with many, many reasons they think are valid for hating them. It’s kind of a different thing from asking WHY we hate Palin, when we actually don’t. Notice Raptor has disappeared, by the way?

But yes, the Palin-drome belongs in there, fer shore!

KPO, very cute. But HAS she really given it up? I think not...so there’s hope for you yet (and me!).

Happy, as far as Bristol staying on DWTS, it doesn’t take a conspiracy you know. They just have to know she’s Sarah’s daughter, and some of them will call in just ‘cuz. Added to the fact that, in my opinion, MOST of the people who watch DWTS are of the mentality which is the right these days...you know, “real Americans”.

Anthony, I agree with your first sentence. And

That’s pretty much it; if you don’t want to say you’re being abused by the media, don’t do stupid things like have a reality show or be on Fox News, or at least learn a few things. On the other hand, if you want to make scads of money without doing any work, be on the media as much as possible, including Fox, have a reality show, write a book, and take every friendly speaking engagement you can....geee, I wonder...d'ya think? Naw, can't be, she's out there "martyring" herself for "the American people", of course.

It sounds like hate to me, but what do I know about hate. What I find funny is she could beat Obama. If he keeps up his socialist agenda against real Americans. 2012 is going to be another bloodbath for dems. This time in the senate and prez elections. I think O'donell could beat our monkey in chief the way things are going. If you disagree you need to get off the computer and go outside. really.

There is nobody on this planet that I hate (not really my style), only people that I love to hate. And that's more love than hate, since they bring so much joy to my life If Palin fails to run I will hate her for a while for disappointing me, but then I will forgive her. If she runs and her campaign doesn't unravel and implode I will hold my hands up and admit I underestimated her.

I don't think things are going to get much easier for the Pres over the next two years, the economy's not going to make a miracle recovery and unemployment will stay high - that's really the bottom line. This widespread 'socialist' rhetoric is pretty mindless; every other developed country in the world has government healthcare systems - is the whole world outside of America 'socialist'? Did I miss the point in history where Russia won the cold war?

I'll concede that any half-decent moderate Republican candidate would beat Obama; but I think Obama deserves a little luck, and Sarah Palin and the tea party could yet save him...

It's not personal. It's just war.

Oh, "ditto KPO". Well said. I, too, will be disappointed if Palin doesn't run (and I don't think she will; she's got it too good the way it is, with no effort on her part). If she just would, and would choose an appropriate running mate who "thinks" like her (I use the term advisedly), it would be SUCH fun!!!

That doesn't mean I'll hate her when she chooses not to; more like I will grin, snap my fingers and go "Damn, bummer, I looked forward to that!"

In your words...How does Palin think? What is her political philosophy? And how would that be fun to watch? See, by her politics she is a slam dunk, it is her persona(like clinton in a way) that is a negative. If you don't think most Americans think as she does you are wrong....look at the last election.

And watch what you wish for. Even she can beat Obama. Anyone will beat Obama.

What I BELIEVE Palin thinks, from what I've observed/heard of her?

I think she likes prestige but doesn't like the down-and-dirty work involved.

I think she enjoys attention, but doesn't think it's necessary to educate herself to make that attention viable.

I think she's quite willing to bend principle when anyone gets in her way.

I think she's out for herself, that most of the things she says are aimed at encouraging dissatisfied people to follow her, but what she actually BELIEVES, I don't think any of us know.

I think she likes being the titular head of the Tea Party, but changes her stance on things as it is efficacious.

I actually don't know what she THINKS, because she's changed positions on a number of things, some of the things she says are diametrically opposed, and she tends to speak in buzz words, politispeak and convenient phrases which give no indication of what she really BELIEVES in.

It's the WAY she thinks that bothers me. I believe expediency and personal aggrandizement and financial gain are her major motivations.

How it would be fun to watch is she provides entertainment by sooting herself in the foot. Walking out of a book-signing tour when crowds waited to see her; showing her ignorance in interviews; giving a speech in front of a turkey being beheaded; manipulating against that relative; spending exhorbidant GOP money on clothes; etc. I think if she became nominee, SO much more would come to light, and she'll keep doing things like this reality show, which is transparent and stupid. I get the feeling she believes things like the turkey show how "rough and ready" she is, but it turns most Americans off something fierce!

Taking kids around grizzly bears? My gawd, they are one of the three most unpredictable species on the planet...by the time she said something about it was time to back off, there could already have been such an enormous disaster...I don't think in some cases she DOES think, I believe she just DOES.

Basically, I don't believe she is of any substance, has any solid ideology or is any kind of viable candidate for the highest office in the land. Given how much of a joke she's become to the majority of Americans, I don't see that changing, ESPECIALLY if she were running for Prez!

According to the poll, two out of three voters overall say they believe Palin's endorsements are motivated by the desire to stay "in the public eye," while just 18 percent believe she's acting out of the desire to "elect conservative candidates." Among conservatives alone, a majority — 53 percent — think she's doing it for the attention, while 29 percent say she's trying to help GOP candidates.

From a round-table discussion at FOX:
Quote:

Joseph Rago and Bret Stephens took the direct line of attack, with Rago answering a question about Palin being the brightest, most exciting Republican politician of her time: “Sure, but what does that say about the Republican Party?” Stephens’ response to the same question? “The freshest, maybe. The brightest, I’m not so sure.” He continued by claiming that he got from Palin “the distinct sense that if you ask her a follow-up question she would have no idea how to answer it.”

Collin Levy sprung to her defense, and in doing so possibly did the most damage of all: “They like her because she seems like a minor-leaguer,” she noted, referring to the hand-note incident at CPAC the Tea Party convention last week. And, concluding the discussion with a comment on Palin’s potential leadership: “She doesn’t need to be a leader. She just has to be something of a party mascot.”
