Ok. I get that.

Hell, I even understand where there is some anger.

Those who create large empires of oil, railroad, internet, car, electronics, etc...

They must be held ACCOUNTABLE for the things and ways they create these wonders. They must be held to fair dealing for their workers.

But, where we split is in that they are "evil".

I create/dream up a product that invigorates or eases the burden of mankind. Sure, I need to produce it in a fair and honest way.

But, just cus I get rich from it, which is my right... that doesnt make me evil for it.

I'm trying to understand the liberals anger towards those that have made and created products that have helped all of us.

They don't hate the founder of Apple, but hate the founder of Microsoft. They dont hate the Prius, but hate Ford.

Explain yourselves. Why is creation, and the profit of such creation, such a bad thing? IF your creation does harm to no-one?

There is so much 'if' in this, so many assumptions, that it is hard to know where to begin.

I suppose the best place to begin is here:

The answer to this is: No. Capitalists are an old and long-standing target of what you call 'the left' (although even that is grossly misleading) because of the victims that the capitalist machine has been perceived as creating during the past 150 years.

And now I must pause to wrestle with your myriad other assumptions and assumptive parameters.

The left hates ford? Huh? What'd I miss, I think Ford got kudos from a lot of people by not asking for a bailout.

The left and right hate microsoft because of two things

1) it's virus friendly environment that has ma all of us waste time
2) Mr Gates involvement in global eugenics programs, according do a fair number of conspiracy theorists, and the occasional Freudian slip of Mr Gates. But usually anti-eugenics attacks come from the right, but not exclusively. He left also doesn't like it, they just don't see it as being as pervasive a problem as the right does.

Also, there's a lot of anger at Apple because of it's labor practices, attack which largely come from the left, but I'll concur that it is not unwarranted. I might add that they are not alone, but that does not excuse them.

But I think you'll find there is much more anger from both sides at banks now... And I don't think its partisan anger, or at least not left right.

Hello,

Just those two?

I'm not familiar with the Eugenics argument.

I'm familiar with the virus argument, which is- to me- misleading. If other operating systems and softwares were as ubiquitous as Microsoft, they would find themselves targeted and infiltrated with similar frequency.

I'm more familiar with the monopoly argument, which is that Microsoft uses illegal or unethical tactics, intimidation, and manipulation to stifle competition and innovation by competitors.

Yes, that would be an older argument. Sadly, microsoft is now falling too far behind technologically to be a threat to anyone by their efforts to copy technology. Notice while Google was busy copying iPhone and iPad functionality, Microsoft was fumbling over whether to actually do a phone, or do a tablet. I suspect that MSFT is dead in the water. The new msft is google, and the new apple is apple.

The virus argument I don't think is misleading. msft put security holes in the system deliberately so that they could push software on users, and those are frequently exploited. This is one reason why IE is much more of a security risk on a msft machine than firefox, even with equal market share. A ff virus generally opens ie in order to run.

The eugenics conspiracys aren't against the company, they're against Mr. Gates himself, who has become a population control advocate. Every so often he'll make a slip up as a lot of philanthropists on this subject do, and call it "population reduction" or something like that. I think these people probably think this is a solution, but it's fair.

Jobs also comes in for a fair amount of personal attack. Big time capitalists aren't saviors, and these two are nothing to write home about. I think Google probably would have been a better company with Brin at the helm than it is now, I guess its criticisms are just beginning.

Good thing you guys took this thread in another direction...the one it was intended to go is pure bullshit.

Once again, Wulf, you are asking a non-question, asking "why" to a faulty assumption. Please show us precisely where anyone here, or anywhere else for that matter, said capitalists are "evil"? You have to do that first--well, you have to FIND someone who thinks capitalists are evil, then ask THEM the question.

Nobody I know of, left, right or otherwise, wants any more than that.

The problem sometimes stems from the fact that Republicans (not saying "conservatives", but Republican politicians) are more apt to put capitalism, and their corporate friends, ABOVE being accountable. That's the only problem I ever have with "capitalists", if you will...tho' most often those are actually "corporations".

Once again you've flown off half cocked...maybe others can take this thread somewhere interesting, but your question is a) a fallacy and b) not interesting.
