Niki was removing her bumper stickers?

Did someone send her this product?

Hee, hee, I loved the caption "Not racist but #1 with racists". I'd venture to say "the ONLY one", for the most part!

No, I pulled all my bumpberstickers off initially because we thought my lovely Maxima had an expensive problem and we were going to have to let her go. Bought another car; problem turned out to be inexpensive, and Jim wanted me to have the new (used) Volvo and drive Maxi himself. I thought it only fair to remove them, as they were MY bumperstickers. And at least half of them had to come off anyway, being outdated about the Presidential election.

But we ended up letting Maxi become the "dog car", as she has the bike rack and the back seat has already been ruined by the dogs, so now I have TWO cars to "bumpersticker". I love bumperstickers!

Yes, I did remove the Obama one (and those from Cafe Press don't need to be scraped off, they come right off with the heat of a hair dryer), and replaced it with

, thank you.

Going up:

...among others. Some husky, some environmental, some buddhist. Like

(that one's for jim, 'cuz it looks EXACTLY like Tashi and the look he gives, and he DOES own Jim's bed...Jim's a total woos about kicking them off.)

and of course one of the Fox ones. I forgot this one:

They let you do custom ones, too, so I have a couple I'm going to make. One I saw on another car that I adore:

OMG! GOP! WTF?!

and several that are out of stock which I'll make myself:

POLITICS IS LIKE DRIVING - To Go Backward, Put it in R To Go Forward Put it in D

Conservatives think alike; the rest of us are liberal

Democrats are sexier; who ever heard of a great piece of elephant

Government: Getting nothing done, expensively.

I'll decide among those which to use. That's just a sample. I love bumperstickers, ergo I love Cafe Press!

That one surprised me, coming from you. Why pay more taxes to such an inefficient institution then?

I mean, that's MY position. I just didn't expect you to agree.

I love bumper stickers too. I had a bunch of libertarian ones. Had to cover them up cause Hub kept getting pulled over for no reason. They never gave him a ticket cause he wasn't doing anything wrong. But they liked to harass him just the same. It stopped after we got rid of the bumper stickers. So much for free speech.

And I didn't even think they were that controversial. Things like, "Vote Libertarian" or "Screw Left and Right, vote for liberty."

Wow, that's wile! Where do you live that they do that? And remind me to stay away...I'd be tarred and feathered, obviously!

I believe in BETTER government, not virtually NO government, as the TPers propose. The statement refers to things like Congressional "investigations", the current gridlock which pays our legislators to sit around voting everything down, and things like that. It's a snark about what I see happening currently, as well as a general statement.

I've never denied that I believe our government is MAJORLY in need of reform. But I believe in reform, not revolution.

As to taxes, I'm stuck with the option of wanting to pay none, which means more suffer, or put up with the incredible waste in order to hopefully get SOMETHING done. I don't like the choices, any more than I like having to vote for the "lesser of two evils" every election, but it is the way it is so I accept the system as more good than bad...barely these days...

I understand.

But just to be annoying (forgive me in advance), let me ask this.

If government does nothing expensively, paying nothing would just mean govt does nothing for free, right?

But you believe that if you throw enough money at it, govt will do a little bit, expensively.

Your choices then are:

1. govt does nothing, for free
vs.
2. govt does a little bit, expensively

So, why not take that horde of money that buys very little action from the govt, and give it to someone else who can do a lot cheaply?

The new choices then are:

1. govt does nothing, for free
vs.
2. govt does a little bit, expensively
v.
3. Someone other than govt does a lot, cheaply

Actually, I think I already know the answer. It is because if it isn't govt isn't involved, you will be the only one giving to those causes and it won't be enough to get a lot done. You'll end up with "someone other than govt does a little, cheaply, because that is all the money they can get."

But still, even if that is the case, the options now read:

1. govt does nothing, for free
vs.
2. govt does a little bit, expensively
v.
3. Someone other than govt does a little, cheaply

It still seems more efficient, to me, to give to another party other than govt.

I conclude then that taxes are not so much about how much is actually done, but about enforcement of what people perceive to be economic fairness and economic morality.

That is, it doesn't matter how much govt actually accomplishes with the money. It matters more that EVERYONE should be forced to chip in to the community, forced to do the right thing. Taxation is about preempting free-riders, even when there are very few benefits to ride. It's about fairness and morality. It's the principle of the thing.

Just thinking out loud.

I think that's one of the best summing ups of the situation I've seen.

But it's not just that the fed govt. does little, it's also what it chooses to do with the cash

As I've been saying, it's not that I support the right of rich not to pay, but that I don't care for what will be done with the money once the govt. gets it.

Not annoying; a good question. I do both. I also see the government, much as it wastes money, as doing some good things smaller individual groups can't do...like roads, arresting violent people, protecting us from metal in Chinese products, at least attempting to minimize pollution, and more.

It's not an "all or nothing" proposition for me, and I don't believe a "nothing" solution would be a viable solution.

And as I said, the bumper sticker reflects the way I feel (more strongly than usual) what is happening right NOW; tha the complete obstructionism of the right has made forward progress impossible (like START, for one thing), yet still continues to cost us money in a million ways (not to mention their salaries!).

Nothing is perfect; I accept the imperfect but somewhat effective along with the "more perfect" use of my money. I just feel differently from people here who want no taxes.

I hadn't seen that post...is he really worth responding to? Not in my opinion.

But I did go back and watch the video, which is funny--especially that last part. Amusingly, the same could be said of all the "Bush" bumper stickers, obviously. Ironically, where I live, I got lots of "thumbs up", smiles, and even people standing in the parking lot reading them and laughing. If I came out of the store while they were, they invariably said "I love your bumper stickers". My neighbors walk by and read them, and every time I'm out there when they do, they tell me of their appreciation. I've got a couple of them we know who have bothered to thank me at other times, one couple with "it's great to see someone who tells it like it is".

I guess that's just where I live, and I'm glad to live here. In all the years I had the last batch on, I only got ONE single negative comment. Two guys in a huge pickup truck with oversized tires pulled up alongside and said "you a socialist?". I replied "No, I'm an Independent". To which they replied "Yup. A socislist". Given that showed the mentality and ignorance of the source, not to mention their mode of transportation, it said it all to me.

No, my life is fine, but those who take time to ridicule FOX News, who isn't anywhere near the problem, or even remotely any real issue of any consequence, yet Niki here seems to think it deserves this level of animosity....it's more a product of her aged, drug addled mind than anything else.

Story: Like I said, not worth responding to. As usual, the extreme righties have to dramatize and can't rcognize the difference between "snark" and "animosity".

Good ol' Rappy. When his wittle mind can't come up with anything of merit, or even clever... just repeat what they said, and add "socialist".
