Quote:Politics is serious business -- but not all of the time. From the halls of Congress to the campaign trail to the international stage, there's always something that gets a laugh or a second glance. Here are some of the things you might have missed: The world according to Jon Funnyman Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," lambasted Republicans for failing to pass a multibillion-dollar bill that would help 9/11 responders pay for health problems that arose from working at ground zero, among other things. Or as Stewart puts it, "the 'least we can do/no brainer act of 2010.'" While chastising Republicans from not appearing on camera to justify their lack of action on the bill, which failed to pass, Stewart said, "Of course the Republicans wouldn't be so cowardly as to not vote for the bill and justifying their actions -- just cowardly enough not to do it on camera," he said. And his parting message was clear: "So guess what, Republicans. Here's the deal: You're the 'We're the only party who understands 9/11' monopoly ends now," he said. "So no more co-opting 9/11 imagery to get yourselves elected. No more using 9/11 as the date when magically all your policies became right." The zinger: "You know what, Republicans? You use it so much [that] if you don't owe the 9/11 responders health care, at least you owe them royalties!"

Just because something can't be explained doesn't mean it becomes yours. Yes. I fail to see why it falls to the Federal Gov't to pay the families of the victims as well as the responders boatloads of tax payer money. Money taken from us to run the government. That on top of the $$ raised by the Red Cross and other, private donations.... It's not that I begrudge them getting assistance, but from where that money comes. Quote:The fact that they're gov't employees, and are owed compensation for their work, is valid. I stated that I was against the pay out to families of victims, by the gov't, which occurred under Bush. I also didn't say that assistance to either group was unwarranted, just the use of tax payer $$ was questionable. Seems if anyone is due 'some' gov't money, it would be the 1st responders.

You're just parroting the propaganda which in fact was devised by hard Left wingers in the Dem party. They saw W land on the USS Lincoln, and freaked. " We can't have this! " Go anti-war ! The Left, so often, is guilty of being / doing what they accuse others Of course, by your logic, you just admitted that that's what you're doing, since you accuse "the Left" of it so often. So you're guilty of "using" 9/11, since you accused "the Left" of using 9/11, and you're simply projecting that mindset onto the Dems. This Space For Rent!

Could be that, because there is no 'preview' option on these boards, folks hit 'post' before they've proof read their posts... Could be , again w/ the no preview option, some folks revise their comments, after having thought of other ways to express their views..... Could be a lot of things.
