Last week Rep. Ron Paul introduced in the House the “American Traveler Dignity Act of 2011,” designed to put an end to TSA thuggery and molestation of small children. Below is the statement Paul made when he introduced the bill.

Ron Paul has opposed federal attempts to turn the nation’s airports into Gestapo zones since the creation of the TSA after the attacks of September 11, 2001. He prefers private security at airports and believes it should be a business decision, not a federal mandate.

Congressman Ron Paul MD:

Quote:

Mr. Speaker, today I introduce legislation to protect Americans from physical and emotional abuse by federal Transportation Security Administration employees conducting screenings at the nation’s airports. Year after year the TSA seems more belligerent toward Americans simply seeking to travel within their own country – a most basic of our fundamental rights — and sadly Americans are just expected to shut up and take it. We should not have to shut up and take it!

Many Americans continue to fool themselves into accepting TSA abuses by saying “I don’t mind giving up my freedoms for security.” In fact, they are giving up their liberties and not receiving security in return. Time and time again we see the revolting pictures of federal screeners with their hands down the pants of children while parents watch helplessly in agony. We see elderly or disabled Americans being forced to endure all manner of indignity. At the same time, we repeatedly hear of passengers who seem to check all the boxes marked “suspicious activity” slipping through unencumbered. Just recently we read of a Nigerian immigrant breezing through TSA security checks to board a flight from New York to LA — with a stolen, expired boarding pass and an out-of-date student ID as his sole identification. We should not be surprised to find government ineptitude and indifference at the TSA, however.

What we ultimately need is real privatization of security, but not phony privatization with the same TSA screeners in private security firm uniforms still operating under the “guidance” of the federal government. Real security will be achieved when the airlines are once again in charge of protecting their property and their passengers.

To move us in that direction, I am today introducing the American Traveler Dignity Act, which establishes that any federal employee or agency or any individual or entity that receives Federal funds are not immune from any US law regarding physical contact with another person, making images of another person, or causing physical harm through the use of radiation-emitting machinery on another person. It means they are not above laws the rest of us must obey. As we continue to see more and more outrageous stories of TSA abuses and failures, I hope that my colleagues in the House will listen to their constituents and join with me to support this legislation.

Yay

I want to give that an exclamation point, and I think I can trust Ron Paul. But I don't know if someone will slip other abusive stuff in there, if it got to a committee.

Mom Arrested After Refusing TSA Molestation of Daughter

Andrea Fornella Abbott of Clarksville, Tennessee, was arrested by Nashville airport authorities after she refused to let the TSA fondle her daughter.

Abbott said she did not want her daughter to be “touched inappropriately” or have her “crotch grabbed,” according to a police report.

Her outrage at the “security procedure” landed her in jail. She was charged with disorderly conduct and released on bond, according to The Tennessean.

“(She) told me in a very stern voice with quite a bit of attitude that they were not going through that X-ray,” Sabrina Birge, an airport security officer, told police.

Abbott was told by the woman that naked body porno scanners are “10,000 times safer than your cell phone and uses the same type of radio waves as a sonogram.”

Earlier this month, it was revealed that the TSA, under the guidance of the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, deliberately misled the public on the health risks associated with the naked body scanners.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center published documents released under a Freedom of Information Act request that show the TSA has been caught covering up a growing number of cases of cancer among TSA airport body scanner operators who conduct the screenings in close proximity to the radiation-emitting devices.

Despite the baseless assurance that the device is safe, Abbott told Birge she did not want her daughter’s naked body revealed by the scanner.

She attempted to take cell phone video of the incident but was prevented from doing so.

In April, the TSA defended its serial molestation procedures after a video surfaced showing agents fondling a six year old girl at the New Orleans airport.

The TSA has admitted that fondling children is government policy.

“Some folks are asking if the proper procedures were followed. Yes. TSA has reviewed the incident and the security officer in the video followed the current standard operating procedures,” a TSA spokesman explained on the agency’s official blog.

That's old stuff (except for the bill), and Paul is just playing to the crowd. I take that back, he may actually believe the things he does/says, but it won't have any impact. The "Gestapo" "let's-scare-the-hell-out-of-them" tactics are firmly entrenched, thanx to "let's-scare-the-hell-out-of-them" Homeland Security. But I do like the cartoon, it's right on. Is that Raptor in the picture?

Ironic, since as I am fond of pointing out, children are often the unwilling test-bed for these policies - the WWASPS camps were the foundation for extraordinary rendition, which is now using many of the now-defunct facilities formerly owned by WWASPS, and this TSA GateRape bullshit ?
When we did it to kids we called it Zero-Tolerance.

Of course, weren't many stood up to it back when it counted, and here we are, are we not ?
Learn from it, and the NEXT time they wanna crush the jackboot down a little harder on kids, remember if you let it happen to them, one day it's gonna happen to YOU.

I am, however, laughing up my sleeve over a recent decision regarding "violent" videogames, not cause of the decision itself, as I do consider them inappropriate for many children (but this is a PARENTS decision to make) but rather in that the way the decision was written indicates an acceptance of the idea that children have the right to free speech and expression....
And that's a BIG step forward, right along with other decisions regarding privacy.

Anyhows, remember that it's far easier to keep the poison plugged up in the bottle, than try to shove it back in once it's spilled all over the floor, so y'all really need to start thinkin pre-emptive defense, as well as offer ZERO aid and comfort to TSA employees and those who enable things like this, ESPECIALLY the latter, cause that is how such things come to be, folks giving ground when they should be takin a stand.

I had kind of the same reaction, but I also saw Jon Stewart's take on it, which was both hilarious and disturbing.

Short version? Your kids can buy games that allow them to disembowel female characters during gameplay - but if a nipple-slip occurs onscreen during that disembowelment, you're in big trouble!
