Haven't seen you around. Are you ok? Recovering well from your pneumonia?

Wondering the same - didn't know about his pneumonia - hoping his silence means he's tasked himself with greater challenges.

Mmm, thanx. Was wondering but figured since I'm not here that much I'd just missed him. Hope he's okay...

Thanks for the well wishes, all. I'm alive, but still wiped out. On the one hand, I finally got a vacation - about three weeks' worth so far. On the downside, it has been absolutely no fun.

I'm on the mend a bit, it seems, but now the cedar is acting up - and I have a 45-foot cedar tree in my front yard. And there's a city ordinance that says any cedar over 30 feet can't be cut down. (I've considered trimming it down to about 29'6", but I actually like the tree and the shade the rest of the year; cedar fever is a short-term thing!)

Anyway, I live. You don't get rid of me that easy. ;)

On the plus side you can't be as allergic to the cedar as the ants, so you shouldn't get any ants.

Hah! Actually I just watched Serenity on SyFy. It's still as good as I remembered. Maybe better.

I actually don't have fire ants in my yard. I'm one of the lucky few, it seems. Nasty buggers, very similar to army ants, only smaller. Mandibles AND a stinger. How unfair.

Heya Kwicko, sorry to hear you've been so sick. I've been here and gone, didn't know why you weren't posting but I wondered and.. yes... worried. So very glad that you're on the mend.

Hugs. Please take care of yourself. As my babcia would say, "Don't overdo".

Yes, we don't get fire ants up here but I know them, they are nasty. One of my sisters has a cedar tree, no ants, the other, ants, no cedar. I wouldn't have worked this out for myself, but I read it online when reading about how to get rid of ants and it pointed out the strong cedar allergy in ants, which I think looked up. I don't know if it's universal, but it seems to be real common.

Yeah, I caught it yesterday too. Can never choose NOT to watch Firefly or Serenity when I bump across them on TV...neat that they show up as often as they do. Says something, I'm sure!

Glad you're hanging in there; stay warm, drink lots of fluids, and take care of YOU!

It lives. I did indeed bruise some ribs from all the coughing. Not fun, and really nothing to be done about it except to take it easy. Which is much easier said than done when your job involves moving about 10,000 pounds a day 50 pounds at a time.

But yes... on the mend, slowly. I'll live. Just not much gas left in the tank these days.

Thanks for your concern, all of you. I'll be around, just not very much.

Better go lay down. You're a long, long way from recovery.

More or less. On the bright side, I've lost 25 pounds. I took the weight loss that came with the illness and just decided to keep going with it. I've been on a strict 2000 calorie per day diet for almost a month now. At my size, 2000 calories isn't really enough, but it's doing wonders for weight loss. And now I know how it feels to be hungry every waking hour. I've stopped drinking sodas, but bacon is still allowed. And lots and lots of veggie dishes.

Ribs are still sore as hell. As an added bonus, though, I threw my back out, so that's awesome. With the bruised ribs, I was trying to compensate by keeping my upper torso more rigid when I coughed, which had the consequence of pulling my hips and pelvis forward, which caused a vertebra in my lower back to slip forward and sideways. It's been a problem area for years, but had actually been doing pretty good for the last couple years.

But I'm up and around, and can't be kept down.

Oh. Throwing your back out, not good.

I have the same problem area and the same tendency. When you slip a disk really the only way you can get relief is to spend your time laying down with your head slightly inclined.

Sounds like you are re-living my 2010, arrgh.
I had pneumonia and then ruptured a disk, but then I sprained my hip and dad died. Let's hope the similarity stops with the back...
Congrats with the weight loss, though...I think the only way that's gonna happen for me is if somebody cuts it offa me

Oh, can I ask how old you are? Riona was arguing with Frem that he's not as young as he says he is, hah, but it made me wonder how old you are...
And not how old ya FEEL, I think I can guess the answer ta that.

Keep on movin on, hon... You'll be better in no time..
