Interesting. Is this why the GOP boos the Golden Rule? They're against it now, because Obama says he's for it?

Exactly. At least, that's how the media portray HIM.

Your point is twisted and distorted.

'Some' booed Ron Paul, and his misuse of the Golden Rule. No where did the GOP 'boo' Obama, as your statement intimates.

Of course, Obama DID mockingly refer to Americans who " cling to their guns or religion ". But he's all for quoting ( or misquoting ) Jesus, when the need suits him?

THAT is the issue here.

See Geez, this is the classic Left wing two-step. They can't deal with the issue, head on. They know they'll lose. So they must interject some other, irrelevant side issue, to expand the area of discussion, there by making the corner they've painted themselves in even larger.

Maddow ? Beck ?

Sorry, strike two. One commentator / entertainer talking about another commentator/ entertainer's view ?

By your logic, anyone in the 'media' is a part of the MSM ? Beck isn't a part of the NEWS division of FOX, as Maddow does not sit behind the desk on the nightly newscast on MSNBC. ( though the latter might as well do so anyway )

So let's deal with the issue "head on", as you say. Can you show any examples of Obama being "against god" (your words, not mine)? The video you posted has him citing various quotes from scripture, but I fail to see him "mocking" religion, as you "intimate" he does.

See, Geez, Rappy is doing the classic right-wing two-step here. Making claims that are based on nothing (Herman Cain at least had the decency to preface such idiocy with "I have no facts to back this up, but..."), and then dancing around the issue when questioned on it.

Rappy himself makes fun of religion on a regular basis, but none of that stops him from embracing "Christianity" when it suits him, up to and including taking communion while claiming atheism. Seems Rappy is exactly what he claims Obama is: AGAINST religion before he was FOR it.

Where have I 'embraced' Christianity ?

Cite any proof of me 'taking communion' , while claiming atheism.

And since I'm not running for public office, I'm not a hypocrite, like Obama, nor do I have any reason to sway anyone's view.

WTH, WTF, WTH, WTFFFFF??? What nonsense is this that the professed athiest is dissing Obama for making fun of fundies???

Wait, 'cause, y'know, that's ALL THAT'S GOING ON HERE.

Obama's making fun of folk who slavishly follow the old testiment--or more accurately, PRETEND to follow the old testiment--no one can absolutely follow that hate-filled, self-contradictory madness. Yes, Obama mentions that the Sermon on the Mount kinda disallows a Defense Department, but that's what Jesus said and it's damn true. It's not a dis at religion to say so, it's just one of the ironies of our effed up culture. No right-wing fundie I ever heard wants to abolish the DoD and that's the point. Fundies is the real subject of both clips.

There's nothing for lefties to "dodge" here. Kwicko loves winding you up, that's nothing new. As I've said before, you boys should get a (chat) room! It's not strictly entertaining to listen to you two going at it day and night.

Yeah, okay, Nikki, I see I'm taking the bate, but only because this is by far the most non- of the many non-issues AURaptor posts to scare up rancor.

I gotta say, credit where it's due, Auraptor, you are the master thread starter. Y'know, routinely, you'll post something not nearly as news un-worthy as this (but close) here and folk will flock to you like song birds to St. Francis. The Tibow/Muslim mash-up was a work genius. This one, not so much. You get the usual Kwicko cum Pee Wee Herman I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I shenanigans, and the old man coming in walk away with the low hanging fruit, as per usual.

But seriously. There are a ton of Christians who think the OT is a scary book never to be taken literally. And you know that, AURaptor.

Please, Kwicko, Auraptor, let this one die. It's reflects badly on da bofe o' ya's. Da bofe o' ya's.

Or don't. I don't know what got into me. Love ya, mean it.

Carry on.

Perhaps they were booing the call to stop "endlessly bombing". I know you'd like to do that.

Well, it didn't take. Even after I took communion, and everything.

So here's you, in your own words, claiming to have taken communion. You've long maintained that you're atheist; are you now saying you aren't? Are you lying now, or were you lying then? Or, as is more likely, both?

Riiiiight. The GOP wants to stop the wars. Odd that they loudly cheered Perry's assertion that he'd send troops right back into Iraq, then. You seem quite desperate to spin things in a positive light here, Geezer.

It has to do with the title of the thread, about a candidate being AGAINST god before he was FOR god. Here's your very own party (which you and Rappy both claim not to belong to, but which you both vote for and vocally support, seemingly in every election) showing how much they're for and against their very own "god".

Looks to me like the title of this thread mentions "Obama" pretty clearly and exclusively. And the videos show Obama both saying that folks shouldn't use God to support their political agenda, and then using God to support his political agenda.

So what's your reaction to Obama first saying that folks shouldn't bring up religion to advance a particular political position, and then bringing up religion to advance a particular political position?

Kwickie, this proves , beyond all doubt, that you have a serious crush on me.

Attending a church, ONCE, and taking part in a religious ritual is hardly 'embracing Christianity'.

Your fail is so colossal, there aren't enough words for it in all of human language to even BEGIN for me to express, it would take so long.

You dig up a post from 15 months ago, in the HOPES of catching me in some lie, or to use my words against me, because YOU can't defend your lord and master, Obama.

Are you people really that bad at using Google and keyword searches? Seriously? It takes less than a minute, if that. Go to Google, type in "auraptor communion fireflyfans" and look what comes up. Done.

And there you go again with your religiosity, referencing someone as "lord and master". Sorry, can't help you with your belief or your claimed non-belief, since I recognize no "lord and master". Nope, not "done", not even close. I don't know if you're truly this stupid, or you think everyone is really that dumb, but here's EXACTLY what you said...

HK - he started it.

Hee hee.

But seriously, I gotta say, I'm no where near as devious or clever as you and Niki seem to think. I, like pretty much everyone else, simply come here to discuss items in the news, and comment on things we see. This PARTICULAR item ? I hate to say, because, knowing how some folks like,..no, LOVE to twist and distort damn near everything, came from something I saw on twitter.

Either by an individual I follow, or something re-tweeted by them, is where I got this topic. But oddly enough both this issue, and the Tebow /Muslim item, came from the same place. In fact, as best as I can recall, those 2 items have been the only times I carried over to RWED. I did so because I find the issues interesting, and figured others might enjoy seeing something they may not get from the main stream media. I had no idea things would get so 'animated'.

Meh. Oh well.

You called me a liar, and then ran away from even trying to prove your case.

Hitler ? Really? That was your nonsensical reply to comparing Christian and Muslim killings in recent history. Wow, what a fail on your part.

Quote:

That, my dear boy, would be you. You demanded that I show "proof" of where you'd taken communion; I did, and you started trying to shuffle and dance, change the subject, and move the goal posts.

I'm not your dear boy, and again, you're lying. I asked for proof of where I EMBRACED Christianity. I never denied taking communion, hell boy, I'M THE ONE WHO TOLD YOU I TOOK PART ! Man, what a dumb ass you are ! ROFLMAO !!!

I attended 1 service. In your pea sized brain, that's EMBRACING a religion?

And the whole 'communion' nonsense...my dog. If there ever was a bigger red herring. So completely off the topic, insignificant, and a minor aside from the claim that I 'embraced' Christianity. In context, 'taking' communion once isn't the same time as routinely doing so.

Google or not, the fact that I warrant enough of your brain cells that you feel compelled to look back over 15 months to recall EXACTLY what I said, even though it has absolutely ZERO to do w/ the original thread topic, or anything at all, still shows that you're obsessed. Dude, I'm in your head, and you can't get me out ! How fucking funny is that !

So anyways, just admit that I'm not a liar, or at the very least, you got it completely wrong, and got your wires crossed, claiming I denied taking communion as part of some how 'embracing Christianity ', when in fact, I'm the one who told YOU about that, back in October of 2010.

Again " Rappy himself makes fun of religion on a regular basis, but none of that stops him from embracing "Christianity" when it suits him, up to and including taking communion while claiming atheism."

UP TO AND INCLUDING taking communion while claiming atheism.

I took communion ONE time, and in no way was it an 'embrace' of Christianity, as you tried to paint it. It's not the communion nonsense, it's the 'embracing Christianity' lie that you're running from.

Pick one. Apologize for calling me a liar, or admit that you were wrong.

Where have I 'embraced' Christianity ?

Cite any proof of me 'taking communion' , while claiming atheism.

And since I'm not running for public office, I'm not a hypocrite, like Obama, nor do I have any reason to sway anyone's view.

You didn't ask for proof that you embraced Christianity. You're moving the goalposts yet again, changing the game because you've already lost. You demanded I cite ANY PROOF of you taking communion, strongly implying that such was not the case, as if such a thing were preposterous and could never happen. You were attempting to mislead everyone here, and I showed you up for the liar and fool you are.

And you're still lying about it.

As for WHERE you've embraced Christianity, one can only assume somewhere in the Atlanta area, since that's seemingly where you live. Is that where you embraced Christianity?

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Taking communion isn't really "embracing Xtianity"?

I have to wonder... why WOULD anyone participate in the sacraments w/o believing in the religion? I know I did it, but I was living at home and just trying to keep my mom happy. Sometimes, people go with their friends. So, rappy- have any religious friends you're hanging out with? Trying to keep mom or dad happy?

I hope you realize BTW that your insincere participation is a mortal sin, for which you will burn in hell. Unless you sincerely confess.

By your logic, anyone in the 'media' is a part of the MSM ? Beck isn't a part of the NEWS division of FOX, as Maddow does not sit behind the desk on the nightly newscast on MSNBC. ( though the latter might as well do so anyway )

You DO know what that second "M" in "MSM" stands for, don't you? To say that Glenn Beck was somehow less a part of the media when he was at Fox than some former editor at Newsweek is pretty weak sauce.

You want to be Mr Anal Retentive about all this ? Fine. Show me where I took communion, WHILE literally professing my atheism, at the same time. You started this idiocy.

See, the ISSUE wasn't whether or not I had participated in communion, but whether I had 'embraced christianity'.

THAT is the bigger context. THAT is the issue.

You're the one lying here, not I.

I asked you to show me where I've ever embraced my Christianity. Still nothing ?

And 'where' doesn't mean location, it means ( and you know this ) by what actions HERE have I relayed my embrace for Christianity. Go remember that one, if ya can.

And yes Sig, I took part in a ritual. BFD. As long as I didn't assign any real meaning to it, that's all it was.

It's funny, because others accuse ME of creating b.s. , simply to get folks going back and forth, when it's clear that Kwickie and Sig are, by far, the biggest offenders of doing exactly that sort of nonsense.

So anyway, back to the original post... Obama , by his own words, hates religion and politics, until he doesn't. And in an election year, what you say NOW is what matters most, huh?

Obama and the Dems are hoping , praying, that the American public really are that stupid.

Fact is, you're still trapped, as you ever were, but are fooling yourself into thinking otherwise.

Show me where, or admit utter failure on your own part.

So. Mike, Sig, Cav, what's your reaction to Obama first saying that folks shouldn't bring up religion to advance a particular political position, and then bringing up religion to advance a particular political position?

Do you have one? Do you care? Do you think it's just 'politics as usual'? Would you rather just change the subject and hope no one notices?
