Yeah, twas funny cause I got a lot on my schedule and so when I DO get a chance to shop, sleep, or whatever - sometimes it's not under the best of conditions... I WAS rather trying to take a nap before work, and folks kept ringing my phone to check on me and offer advice - while it's nice to know they care, I WAS tryin to sleep, lol.

This building isn't no protection and if nature wants my head she's gonna have it - anyhow most of it missed us, although one neighborhood in Dexter got plowed up good and a few touchdowns elsewhere, surprisingly NO fatalities or even serious injuries, at least among humans although one puppy did get drowned via flash flooding.
Speakin of which the local humane society is offering free temporary boarding for animals displaced by housing damage, and I have to stop by there and do that touch-n-go thing I did with the birds during that pipeline break and spill here, cause a lot of them, older animals especially, don't deal with stress well.

As for relief efforts for the wrecked neighborhood, I do not trust the Red Cross or United Way, since so little, if ANY, of the funds ever actually trickle down into helping anyone (both seem to be caught in the trap of grinding money out of you to run bigger ad campaigns to grind more money...) and the local auto dealer helping is a serious crook....
But there's a grocery store which operates in the area, name of Busch's - which is doing a free community lunch right now while offering other fundraising/relief and that event has been tapped by Gus, Divine and the usual suspects to coordinate efforts, I'll be taking the Habitat for Humanity rep over there later to have a look and see if they can maybe rebuild or recondition some of the wrecked homes, and assess salvage possibilities for material reclaimation, yadda yadda.

Also got two issues I wanted to bring up here, but I shall have to be quick about it.

I was wondering if there were no human fatalities because the news didn't say they were. News tends to highlight the negative, so every time I'd hear them say "and yet this mother was caught off guard how fast it was" I tensed for bad news a little, and then it would cut to some lady smiling and bouncing her baby. I figured if it were bad they'd really play it up, but because they wouldn't mention something just as amazing like "no fatalities", it's good to have that confirmation.

I remember you talking about Busch's before, they had generator power when detroit power was dragging their feet restoring electricity after that one windstorm. They should change heir name to "Survivor Mart," it sounds to me like they'll be around after a nuclear apocalypse or zombie invasion.

Glad you're okay.
