What does he have against AMERICAN guns? Why hate on American gun manufacturers?

The big old Colt 1911 .45 only holds 8 and the Colt revolvers only 6 , and the S&W 10 mm only 8 too, I think-- them Glock 9's all hold 13 or 14, so ya can shoot a whole lot more times with one before ya run out. SO ya can make a whole lot more noise, and if ya throw that much lead, ya might be able to compensate for bad shooting and actually hit what yer tryin' to stop, and all the extra lead flyin' might get lucky and kill more innocent bystanders.

"If you can't get it done with 6, you aren't gonna get it done, and you don't deserve to."

Hello,

Most American gun manufacturers make higher capacity handguns, so I don't think capacity is the dividing line.

I'm not sure why someone would focus on a particular manufacturer or caliber.

The best gun to have is the one you're comfortable with, whatever that may be.

My American-made Ruger 9mm holds 16 (15 in the mag, 1 in the hole).

It also has 30-round mags readily available.

Beg yer pardons. I'm not really a gun guy, tho' I sound like one, sometimes. I just have read and studied a little about them. I am aware that American manufacturers do make hi-capacity pistols and magazines, I suppose I just didn't make my point clearly. Let's try again.

My opinion: the highlights of American ( personal, hand- )gun design have been the Colt Peacemaker revolver, the Colt M1911 45 auto, and the S&W 10 mm- all relatively smaller magazine, lower capacity weapons. The big magazine, 14 round double row 9mm's all derive from European versions of the old Browning 9mm. American versions of same are just that, American copies or adaptations of that successful market.

That's a simplified version of the facts, I'm sure. Hell, I could even be *W*R*O*N*G* . And I do know that the main reason that those American lower-capacity weapons are lower-capacity is because they are larger caliber- put more bigger bullets in there and the thing becomes too large and heavy to handle.

But I'll stand by my opinion as a defensible argument, and certainly good enough for an ironic response to the topic.

NOBC, you've got a point, but I still want to know why Allen West hates America. Remember, these are the same people who blasted Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for not driving an American car.

I also disagree with West, I'd go with a revolver, less likely to jam. A 38 is just fine.

My compact Colt .45 is as beautiful as she his powerful... but I need to get a revolver too.

The less mechanical parts involved, the less likely there's a glitch..... Unless, of course, you're using bullets "Made in China"

Oh, great, another pissing match about who's gun is the biggest/best/whatever. I'll just respond to the question and let the rest of you have your fun discussing guns.

Why doe Allen West hate America? 'Cuz he's a Republican? 'Cuz he's just plain insane (which is obvious from so MANY of the things he's said)?

As to the Republican crack, I'm convinced that maybe they don't HATE America, but they sure don't love it. Otherwise they wouldn't have spent three years virtually ignoring the American people (except to make sure none of the females have rights to their own odies) and concentrating on Obama. I think they'll only come to "love" America when they own it COMPLETELY...which they're well on their way to doing...and can tell EVERYONE what to do (as West obviously wants to).

Okay, go back to playing...

Something very dangerous is brewing in U. S. House District 22: Allen West.

Parts of West’s campaign are nothing more than hate speech. He says Muslems have been damned by God. His vehemence against anyone who practicing Moslem is disgusting and not worthy of the Republican Party, which always claims to have a Big Tent. Maybe this is where the Republican Party is headed.

His website is filled with rhetoric more reminiscent of a racist than of a congressional candidate. He refuses to capitalize Muhammad and Islam on his website, making an editorial comment that they are not worthy.

Worst of all is the following statement on his website. It has no place in politics:

“Genesis Chapter 16, verses 11-12 states, ‘And the Angel of the Lord said to her (Hagar): Behold you are with child, and you shall bear a son, you shall call his name Ishmael, because the Lord has heard your affliction. He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against everyman, and every man’s hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.’

Ishmael of course became the beginning of the Arab people.and God’s word is immutable truth. In West’s America, we should write off the millions of law-abiding Arabs in this country because God supposedly damned them! http://www.browardbeat.com/bad-for-the-gop-allen-wests-hate-speech/. Rep. Allen West: Obama Wants Americans To "Be His Slave"
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2...._his_slave.html a townhall meeting Monday, tea party firebrand Rep. Allen West (R-FL) got into a shouting match with a Muslim attendee who confronted West about his history of highly Islamophobic comments. “Don’t try to blow sunshine up my butt and tell me [Islam] is all warm and fuzzy,” the congressman angrily responded to the questioner’s assertion that Islam is not a violent religion.

West appeared on Fox and Friends this morning to discuss the incident. Propped up by Fox host Steve Doocy, West, a retired lieutenant colonel, said he couldn’t possibly be Islamaphobic because, “I have done my share to bring the light of freedom into the Islamic world” while serving with the Army in Iraq and Afghanistan."
Indeed, West served for 20 years in the military, but his career ended abruptly in 2003 when he resigned under a cloud while facing a court martial over the brutal interrogation of an unnamed Iraqi man. According to his own testimony during a military hearing, West watched four of his men beat the suspect, then West said he personally threatened to kill the man while holding a pistol. According to military prosecutors, West later took the detainee outside and fired a 9mm pistol inches from the man’s head, in order to make him believe he would be shot. West thought the man had information about an assassination plot against him.

It’s telling that West sees occupying another nation and then brutally mistreating one of their citizens as t inging “the light of freedom into the Islamic world. Video at http://www.loonwatch.com/2011/02/allen-west-i-can%e2%80%99t-be-islamap

West’s apparent Nazi Neurosis has been in effect for quite some time. Here is a sampling of his references to the regime that he can’t stop dreaming about:

“If Joseph Goebbels was around, he’d be very proud of the Democrat Party, because they have an incredible propaganda machine.”

“If we allow those Gestapo-type intimidation tactics to prevail in the United States of America, what happens to our liberties?”

“In reviewing history, I would say Sir Neville Chamberlain was naive in his negotiations with German Chancellor Adolph Hitler. However [...] I cannot attribute this incompetent statement [by Obama] to naivete, but rather to conscious, nefarious, and malicious intent.”

West has been admonished in the past for his insensitive exploitation of the horrific atrocities of Hitler and his Nazi Party. He has been condemned by Jewish and civil rights groups. And his usual response is to stiffen his resolve and defend his unconscionable rhetoric. http://www.newscorpse.com/ncWP/?p=5970 called Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz “the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the US House of Representatives.” And he hired a staffer who excited her Tea Party audience by declaring that “If ballots don’t work, bullets will.”

Now West has added to his resume his participation as a member of the advisory board of the Thomas More Law Center, a notoriously aggressive group of Christian extremists with a record of blatant bigotry. The TMLC supported former judge Ray Moore who was ousted from the bench. They also brought suits to force schools to teach creationism along side evolution. They challenged the Hate Crimes Prevention Act. They tried to force Planned Parenthood to falsely declare a link between abortion and breast cancer. They are virulently homophobic. And they have been amongst the most rabid anti-Muslim organizations in the country with wild assertions that Islam is a hoax disguised as a religion bent on destroying America.

It seems a perfect affiliation for West who shares the same principles. In a press release announcing the appointment, West said “What impressed me about the Law Center is that it knows the true threat to our nation posed by radical Islam and it has initiated and funded more cases challenging the Stealth Jihad being waged against our Nation than any other public interest law firm in America.” http://www.newscorpse.com/ncWP/?p=7046 more, if anything, need be said about the man?

Hello,

It's a lot of fun for gun people to debate guns.

My first handgun purchase was not only American, it was manufactured in my home County.

How's that for patriotism? ;-)

Actually, I bought it because it was affordable. At the time, a single-action .22 combo revolver from Heritage Manufacturing only cost 99 dollars. Nearly two decades and thousands of dollars later, it's still one of the best guns I own.

Patriotism begins at home!

I always avoided the Heritage guns simply because they were *too* cheap, I thought. Mistake on my part, really.

Hello,

Most guns in their price range are only suitable as bludgeons.

But I'll show you what's really cool about the Heritage small-bore line.

In the picture above, you may notice a lever by the hammer of the gun. This is a manual hammer-block safety. Very few single-action revolvers in the world have such a safety. The ability to manually engage a hammer block makes this (to my eyes) one of the safest single-action revolvers made. Also, you can dry fire the weapon without damaging it when the safety is engaged.

I won't try to fool you into thinking a single-six doesn't feel infinitely classier with its precision mechanism and higher quality frame. But I've never had the thing fail and it has always been dead-on accurate with its primitive little fixed sights. I recommend them to anyone shopping on a budget for a gun they want to keep. (They have no resale value.)
