Thass the headline from the CNN.com home page.

The story doesn't exactly support the headline, but--

I'm of 2 minds here-- boy, that takes a lotta stones on his part. Imagine anybody having the nerve to criticize the Supreme Court. What is this, a democracy or something, a place with freedom of speech, especially political speech? Are we, or aren't we, supposed to kneel and bow before the 9 Supreme Lords of ALL?

The other side, it sounds like the people he's most PO'ed at are the neocons and the Teabaggers.

And like I said, the CNN STORY doesn't exactly support that headline, doesn't directly quote him as saying that. I think maybe the headline writing editor projected a little too much interpretation onto the story.

Well, the title is at least accurate. I couldn't find the CNN story you mentioned, but this from CNN as well:
Quote:

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia downplayed reports of personal and ideological rifts stemming from the recent landmark health care reform ruling, telling CNN in an exclusive interview "it offends me" to hear criticism of his colleagues over how they ruled.

The 76-year-old justice talked Wednesday with CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight," discussing a range of judicial topics -- from the death penalty to abortion rights and the Bush v. Gore decision.Lots more at http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/19/us/scalia-morgan-interview/index.html

I'm really sick of the Supremes. They seem to have gotten it into their head that they're the Untouchables, a class above everyone else--which isn't that surprising, given their power and the fact it's a lifetime appointment (talk about 'tenure'!). It's always been that way to a degree, but now they're doing it OPENLY, acting as if they're God incarnate and losing every inch of respectability in the process. They're as bad as the rest of the right wing; lies, however egregious, are acceptable these days, and the right-wing Supremes can say and do whatever they want. They see themselves as some kind of kings or something, and look down on everyone else, from the government to Obama to the rest of us. It's sickening.

I guess it comes own to "we have the right to criticize them" and "they have the right to be offended by our criticizing them"...but by saying stuff like this (and other things), they've long since lost my respect.

Actually, Niki, that is the right story, and I was wrong, they did in fact quote him as saying that, exactly as you cite.

I just went back and re-read the whole story- it's mainly an analysis piece on the video interview they did. I'm not gonna watch the vid-- their job as a journal is to WRITE DOWN, for the record, in black and white, in print, WHAT HE SAID. That's called reporting.

Instead, they printed an interpretation of what he said, a summary analysis, a commentary on it, with only a couple of little-bitty quotes of what he ACTUALLY said. Shame on them.

You're thinking of your friends at FauxNews.

From the little I've seen of what FauxNews offers, I'm afraid to me it's neither news NOR entertainment...
