Most of the world does not recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital. Israel itself declared Tel Aviv its capital under David Ben Gurion.

The question was very simple. Which city does this administration recognize as the capital of Israel.

Still no answer.

Israel's financial centre is Tel Aviv, while Jerusalem is the country's most populous city, and its capital

FREMDFIRMA

They have no capital, they're not even a country, just a pack of terrorists occupying land they stole by force while in the commission of an outright and ongoing genocide.
I do not call them allies, despite our leaders kowtowing to them, and I have little against the people under their lash save in their tolerance of leaders so vile - which is something I hold against us as well, but I refuse to allow their legitimacy as a country be framed as a given at this point, because this is no more legit than some street gang taking Texas city by city while they massacre the inhabitants, while claiming it was theirs all along via some kind of divine right religious twaddle, and being supported by foreign powers while doing it.

Would YOU tolerate that ?
Would YOU then recognize them as a nation ?
So why extend this dubious courtesy to a collective of genocidal terrorists ?

And no, that DOESN'T excuse others for engaging in similar behavior, but it does mean there isn't any moral high ground to be had, here.

Go Frem!!!

I guess Raptor needs some education or something? To begin with, of COURSE they know the answer, they're trying to put him on the spot. Cute. Here:
Quote:

There are differing legal and diplomatic positions on Jerusalem held within the international community. Governments and scholars alike are divided over the legal status of Jerusalem under international law. Most countries of the world do not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Many do not recognize it as a city that is properly Israel's. Many UN member states formally adhere to the United Nations proposal that Jerusalem should have an international status.

The chief dispute revolves around Israel’s control of East Jerusalem, while broader agreement exists regarding the Israeli presence in West Jerusalem. De jure, the majority of UN member states and most international organisations do not recognise Israel's control of East Jerusalem which occurred after the 1967 Six Day War, nor its 1980 Jerusalem Law proclamation, which declared a "complete and united" Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Jerusalem is a contentious issue in final status peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority, which claims Jerusalem as Al Quds, the capital of a future Palestinian state.

He's probably ignorant of all this, and enjoys watching Carney be put on the spot; that speaks about how infantile Raptor is, and nothing and nobody else.

It takes a brain like his to make the reach from a contentious international issue to the Muslim Brotherhood (which isn't what he thinks it is anyway)! Israel has used it's power in America to behave in an abhorrent fashion; some idiots like Raptor applaud this. Others like myself think it's disgusting and we shouldn't be supporting them. Raptor shows himself as nothing but a narrow bigot who knows little about the actual situation.

Israel has insisted that Jerusalem is its eternal and indivisible capital. The United States does not agree with this position and believes the permanent status of Jerusalem is still subject to negotiations. This is based on the UN's 1947 Partition plan for Palestine, which called for separate international administration of Jerusalem.

Frem is right: It has no capital. Our embassy, like most other countries, is in Tel Aviv, but our Consulate General is in Jerusalem.

I wonder if Mr Carney will try to get them tossed out of the WH Press corps, as he did w/ FOX News.

Kwickie - Weird that I left off something from Wiki, which doesn't change the fact that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel ? As it clearly stated ? Weirder still that Carney didn't even TRY to give an answer, at all. But you'll just gloss over that now, huh ?

Does Raptor realize the infantile behavior of the press corps was quite deliberate, that they were hounding him, kind of daring him to make a statement--then, if he answered, whatever he said would make headlines and be attributed to Obama. How dumb do they really think he is?!? I guess about as dumb as Raptor, who obviously doesn't get it.

Interesting how people (myself included, I imagine) quote from Wikipedia without checking out who wrote it or the references, etc.
Quote:

[ii]Jerusalem is the capital under Israeli law. The presidential residence, government offices, supreme court and parliament (Knesset) are located there. The Palestinian Authority foresees East Jerusalem as the capital of its future state. The UN and most countries do not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, taking the position that the final status of Jerusalem is pending future negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Most countries maintain their embassies in Tel Aviv and its suburbs or suburbs of Jerusalem.
But then he may well get it, and his right-wing spoon-fed sources have told him to take this stance. Would figure; if I were PN--or even Raptor if the situation were reversed--I would say he's just spouting what his right-wing, Jewish "masters" have told him to spout. Isn't that the usual line of attack?

Obviously the right wingers aren't sharp enough to "get" politics and diplomacy and realize that if anyone from the White House said one way or another, it would cause a media frenzy. Which is what they wanted, of course. Duh.

The question to Jay Carney, is what is THIS administration's previous position as to the location of the capital of Israel.

Pretty basic and straight forward, yet he refused to answer.

Also, note how the usual suspects here are quick to furiously construct any number of straw men arguments, to divert attention away from this clear and colossal gaff on the part of the WH Press Sec.

How is it possible to take this guys side on this matter, and why ? For what possible purpose ?

It , as the capital of Israel, remain among the great mysteries of the universe!

No, no burn, what so ever. The question actually was asked, at a WH press conference briefing, by actual, live reporters. Jay didn't answer, couldn't answer, wouldn't answer, for what ever reason. Do you know what that reason is ? Some reporters would LOVE to hear it, as well as the WH's position as to which city ...well, you know.

Neither did you.

And you still won't.

Instead, you claim that this site is filled with children.

So you're saying the reporter asking Mr. Carney a question (if such a thing actually happened, which you've provided no evidence for that I've seen) was a child, or acting childishly?

straw man position you're got there, kwickie. If I answer the question, any question, it won't change 1 damn thing about Carney not answering the question by the media. Which is his JOB, to inform us the views of the President.

Not my job.

Complete and total fail on your part.

I get that you think you're being clever, or cute, in claiming there's no evidence of Jay not answering the question, when clearly there is, and then trying to equate completely unrelated matters, but you really do come off as an delusional idiot and a child when trying to engage in such a manner.

Romney isn't the issue. I'm going to pound that point into your skull a 1000 times if I have to. It's clearly some pathological issue you have, some mental avoidance or defense mechanism you on the Left toss up, when faced with something you can't 'cess out in your brain.

Get off floor, get your thumb out of your mouth, and deal w/ the issue at hand, and show everyone what a big boy you really are, mmmkay ?

He still won't answer, and not surprisingly he's completely incapable of recognizing the analogy or the irony. My evil plan worked - he fell right into my trap bwa-ha-ha-ha!

But then, it's not really that hard to trap the Rapster.

That's because there is no reason or purpose, what so ever, for any analogy here. The issue is Jay Carney refusing to address the issue of where THIS PRESIDENT thinks the capital of Israel is located.

Simple, straight forward, and to the point. And yet as Jay does , you useful idiots are screeching like stuck pigs to think of anything and everything to avoid from having to deal. It's sad to see the human condition reduced to such tedious, blind partisanship on your parts.

Really, other than the perpetual amusement offered by watching the Raptard fail to grasp simpla analogies as he digs his teeth into another non-issue....

Why should we give a shit?

Note to anyone - Please pity the poor, poor wittle Rappyboy. He's feeling put upon lately, what with all those facts disagreeing with what he believes.

"Goram it kid, let's frak this thing and go home! Engage!"

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

"... is Jay Carney refusing to address the issue of where THIS PRESIDENT thinks the capital of Israel is located."

And yet, he answered - 'our position hasn't changed'. The fact that you don’t like the answer doesn’t mean he didn't give one.

SignyM: I swear, if we really knew what was being decided about us in our absence, and how hosed the government is prepared to let us be, we would string them up.

Why won't Mittens answer the question asked of him?

Why can't he answer?

In a nutshell. Kiki nailed it: He answered the question; which answer they already bloody well knew; they asked the question for a purpose having NOTHING to do with wanting an answer, as is obvious by the fact that they already KNEW the answer.

We all know what this is about, as Mark said, so why give a shit and play Raptor's little game?

On the other hand, how about Romney asking any of the MYRIAD questions put to him which he ducks almost daily? Now THERE's a valid question, because we DON'T know the answers, unlike the scenario Raptor put up.

No answer to the question was given. Jay merely RESPONDED to the question, saying the position hasn't changed. But no ANSWER as to what that position is was ever given.

Since no one on Earth seems to know his position, maybe YOU could shed some light on the matter for us ?

By all means, do share!

I noticed Romney dodging that question in a CNN interview.

Why won't he answer the question?

In fact, Romney seems reluctant to answer ANY questions. Instead, his spokesman tells reporters to "shove it" and "kiss my ass!" when pressed to give an answer.

According to Rappy, neither of those are answers.

What is Mittens hiding, and why won't his people answer simple questions?
